Any suggestions for 5.56/223, something I could get sub MOA groups. I don't wanna spend the money for the MATCH ammo. But still want really good groups.

I am too lazy to reload anymore and too cheap to buy MATCH ammo like Black Hill ... 2 young kids tend to do that to you !!!

I know it'll depend on the rifles I shoot, but some suggestions for me to try.

Start reloading your own.
It's no problem to load your own match ammo for the price of factory blasting ammo.

Randall, I reloaded everything before my kids came into my life ... I still have probably 25 dies set and 5 shotgun reloader. I just don't have the time, especially making 5-10 loads to try. I just go out blast for a couple hours a week and run off to work.
When I don't work I like to spend time with the kids 4y9m & 17m. When they get older then I'll put them to work as my assistants like my dad did when I was younger. Then I could turn out good cheap ammo again. So right now I still like the really good groups but can't really afford the Match stuff anymore. But I am still picking up all the hulls/brass !!!

If you want to go cheaper, Hornady TAP training works wonders in some guns.

Thanks !! But I've been buying the PMC's, at the Costa Mesa GS I got'em for $285/1000. They are brass casing too, so I could save them for later reloadings.
I also got some Tula's at Cabelas for $199/1000 for non-fire danger places.

But those ammo can't get me the accuracy I am looking for.

For the record I shoot a DPMS MK12 w/ a 24X, DPMS 20" varmint 32X, a Savage 10 LE 16X, YHM Spectre Diamnd 9X. I believe they are all capable of sub MOA providing ammo and I can keep up...

If you want to be cheap and don't want to reload, I see two options:

1. Don't worry about accuracy. If you're not shooting competitively and only for fun, then it's not a concern.

2. Quit shooting.

How could #2 be an option for ANYONE on Calguns???

Shoot a bunch and figure out what your gun likes. Every gun is different and picky for ammo.

I'm in the same boat. I reload for all my bolt and lever and single shot rifles including 223 and 308, but for semi auto I do not. I don't want to spend part of my shooting day chasing brass, showing up with 100 rounds and leaving with 95 empty cases would annoy me no end. I don't like brass catchers that attach to the gun, I shoot lefty so putting one on the bench generally doesn't work. And unlike bolt guns my shooting with semi auto is mostly for fun, I wouldn't say I don't care about accuracy - just that there's more of a balance between fun and acceptable accuracy. So I've poked around for "inexpensive" but accurate 223 ammo.

Keeping in mind every gun is different, I've gotten to like UltraMax ammo. It's a bit on the mild side but always functions. They offer 52 BTHP and 55 FMJ and you can buy online from Cabelas, Sportsmans Warehous usually has it in their store. IIRC its about $89.00 for 200 of the 55 FMJ, a touch more for 52 BTHP maybe a touch less at Cabelas.

Give the 45 grn Winchester HPs from Walmart a try. $23/50 or so and will shoot <0.5" groups out of my 22-250. Maybe you'll get lucky and your guns will like it.

Tight groups with cheap ammo ok surplus ammo at 50 yards

Stick with PMC it's good blasting ammo and will be "accurate enough" until you start reloading, at which time you can reload those same PMC cases 5-6 times.

You could put down the AR and shoot your .22....

Try the Federal/Lake City XM193, I found it to be the closest to Black Hills (amazingly enough) as far as accuracy at 100yds before I started reloading.

When I worked retail people would always ask for the best/cheapest whatever.
You can either have the $10 use it twice DVD player or the $1000 Denon Gold Edition which has a boat load of features DVD player.

Look in your wallet and choose.

I do really want a SUV with a lot of power and gets 30+ MPG.

What is the actual "fire danger" associated with some ammo over others?

+1 on the 69gr Prvi.

I get about 1moa with it out of my 18" SPR.

I too suggest you try Wolf ammo. Allot of people don't like the fancy smell but in my experience it's actually pretty accurate ammo. This is just their standard cheapie ammo too.

Some of the ranges for rifle are on the side of the mountain, and during summer the vegetation gets dry and brown. The spark from a steel core/jacket bullet will set off the dry brush. The casing doesn't matter just the bullet. I happened about 3 weeks ago at Burro canyon, so the ban is on until winter.

I am glad I am not the only only think like that.

I do reload and I can reload, its just I choose to spend the time with my kids for now. Until they are old enough to go shooting with me I'll just buy factory.

D, I'll give your suggestions a try as well as the other ones Puvi someone else suggested. I agree with you about loosing 5 casings, it would bother me too.

For the record MY Thread came first !!!

Like I said at the top "I know it depends on the rifle, but some suggestions for me to try". All I asked was what people was using that are accurate. I didn't think I am asking too much here.

I thank the ones with suggestions, I appologize to those that didn't like what I am asking for !!!

I've had good luck with Fiocchi Extrema V-Max ammo. Inexpensive and accurate.

Fiocchi 40gr V-Max $19.10-50rds. (http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/57697-5.html)

Are you sure you and the rifle can do that?

As someone else said, try different brands. Each rifle is different.

I have gotten less then 1" with my MK12 with Black Hill Match 52 gr Moly coated hp. I consistantly get 1/2 - 3/4 with my Savage with the same ammo. All shots @ 100yrds 5 shots group.
The MK12 just recently with left over ammos from my prekids days. The Savage probably from 6-7 yrs ago at Fish Canyon.
Its when I went to get more of the Match ammo that I got a suprise. The prices have got up LOTS since the last time I bought the stuff, hence this post ...
