Hey guys,
I'm trying to determine a good price for a new parkerized Mil-Spec here in Northern California. Cordova Shooting Center has one in stock for $599 plus tax and DROS... Good deal?? Really want a loaded but can't afford one at the moment. Would I be better off waiting and putting some more money together? Never owned a 1911, but have a p229 in .40, a 686 .357, and a couple hand me down .38 service revolvers...

Not a good deal, but it is fair.

I paid $580 for my stainless from master campers in olivehurst. You might want to check them out.

I would honestly recommend the milspec over the loaded if you're new to 1911s.

Most of the stuff on the loaded model really isn't necessary for a simple shooter. After you've played with the gun for a while you can decide if something is deficient and address the problem at that point. It could save you a couple hundred dollars if you find out that the original design is (shocking) good enough the way it is :)

Ya that's pretty much what I've found from the reading I've been doing. I can't really justify the extra cost of the Loaded...

There's a RIA 1911 milspec for $459 at Metco. I looked at it and it's nice and fit feels very good with the barrel, bushing and slide to frame.

a local shop has had a Stainless Mil Spec for 800 dollars sitting in the display for months now. And they wonder why no one wants to buy it.....

What's the brand? If it's SA, it's definitely a fantastic deal!

^^^Take it while you still can. It's getting expensive. The stainless is now $720 in my local dealer.

An SA Mil Spec for $599 is good a price. Maybe you can do better, but how long will it take, how much time will you spend looking, and how much will you save?

All things that need to be taken into consideration. I want to shoot!

IIRC River city gun exchange has the milspec for $580. They didn't have it on display but brought it out when I asked.

That can't be a Mil-Spec. That would be a really really good price on a Stainless GI.

The lowest price on a Stainless Mil-Spec in my area is $760 + tax & dros. Highest I've seen here is $810.

That is a good price for a Mil-Spec. I have a Stainless Steel Mil-Spec and it cost a far amount more.

same thoughts here. I bought mine 4-5 years ago and it was around 650 and that was an okay price....
