there is nothing illegal about that firearm as it sits there.

Now, since it isn't rostered, a dealer cannot sell or transfer it to you, except in certain situations, such as a PPT/cosignment, or intrafamily transfer.

But it isn't an illegal handgun.

However.... if you find a .38 super you can get a 9mm barrel for it.

I'm pretty sure the .38 super is still on the roster

They always have the RIA .38 Super at Turner's when I'm there, and it's always on sale like every other week for $439 new (for CA prices).
