A couple of weeks ago there were some pics of a bolt out of an AR that basically shattered. Here's the thread http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=306678. Right now but here's a new thread on the del-ton forum addressing this problem. They got a batch of improperly heat treated bolts during mad rush to buy after Obama got elected. They are saying if you have a defective bolt that fails from this time frame they will replace it.

I just saw another defective bolt yesterday at a local gunshop.

It was missing a lug + a chunk of metal.

The bolt was not from a premium vendor (Colt, LMT, Armalite, etc.) and was not known to be MPI'd.

2 more DTI bolts took a dump on ARF. One only took 60 rounds the other was 456 rounds:

Wow, sad thing is their BCGs are only about $10-$20 cheaper than a quality BCG.

People- who cares about DelTon- the real problem is that the actual manufacturer has likely sent untold numbers of these to many other retailers.

What else did delton skip on?? All AR's are not created the same. You get ( got ) what you paid for.

The wear on this bolt looks like it went through more than the mentioned ~450 rds, even then it shouldn't have failed like this if it was engineered properly.

Good point, Manufacturing is where low ballin companies are able to cut corners.
