Hi,
I looked up in gun broker I saw one dealer want to sell the springfield professional 1911. However, I see on its slide is "operator" and it also has the certificate from custom shop. I am confusing if this is a real professional. Can some one help to shed the light for me? Here's the link:

Thanks in advance

Yes...its a Professional. The Pros with a light rail have an "operator" on one side of the slide. As a matter of fact...all springfield frames with a light rail are termed "operator."

But on the other side of the frame is the "Professional" marking. However, the extended barrel, now that I have not seen before on a Professional.

Maybe some with more knowledge than me can give some input. I just started looking at 1911 :43:

My railed Pro has "Operator" stamped on it as well.

I don't think it has an extended barrel, the slide is just not in battery.

it did look extended at first glance...but if you look at the chamber, you'll see the chamber flag sticking out which shows that it is out of battery

That threw me for a loop the first time as well. As others have stated: regular dust cover and it says "Professional"; light rail and it says "Operator" though it is far from the same thing as a SA Operator -- though I bet it helps sales to those with wishful thinking.

Get it. Currently there is a 12-16 month wait on these. You don't see them come-up for sale, even on GB very often. And like others have mentioned, this one is the real deal.

Thanks for every one input. How about the price? is it reasonable?

If you want to wait 1 year plus for one from the custom shop be prepared to pay about $1,000 more.

IMO, Yes it is. I saw one selling at Turner's for $2900 + tax/DROS.

Besides, this is the kind of gun that is really hard to say is "too expensive" since you are getting so much--quality, rarity--so the price is a bit subjective. Even at $3000 after tax and DROS a Turner's, I'm willing to bet someone wil buy it soon.

Good luck!

Hi,
I understand to wait for 1 year. but, why is $1000 more?

Thanks for your infor. I called Ade gun shop. Steve quoted me less than $2500.00 for 3 to 9 months waiting. However, after tax and DROS it will be over $2500.00

Get it straight from the horse's mouth...

Contact Deb in the Custom Shop, she will say that the wait is easily 11 months with a 50% deposit.

Also, a little secret, the Custom Shop will give a discount to military and LEO, this includes all their Professional models.

I waited 18 months recently.

Given the current wait I think it is a great deal. You'll be getting more gun for the money (in the high-end) than just about anywhere else. Exceeded my expectations -- which were high.

Many people hear this from there shops. In all fairness to them, shops are usually quoted this time as well. What happens is that date gets pushed back. As some of our fellow Calgunners have mentioned, 16 months, 18 months.

Why wait til 2012, when you can have your baby next week?:)

Best wishes!!!!

For the money, you'd think the seller would take two extra minutes to wipe the slide before taking pics.

I called the shop. They have two in stock. So, I grasp it without to bid on gun broker. Hopefully, I can shoot it in next two weeks. :)

@sandigogunnut....

How much did the shop sell it for if you don't mind my asking?

like it said in gun broker. 2647 + 35 shipping = $2682.00 . it doesn't charge credit card fee either. I think it is a good deal. Most the shop charge 3% credit fee.

they're really tight out of the box.. so much that it may not go in to full battery on its own.. and breaking the slide away from the bushing is a bear..

all normal.. before you get her home.. do some reading about it.. the stuff I'm talking about is in that thread..

good luck.. you won't be disappointed..

Thanks Killer Bee. I am working while reading the thread :). I will post question later

Technically don't you still have to pay use tax?

Technically we don't have to talk about use tax.

If I were going to spend that much money I'd buy a SVI and have a better gun.

A lot of threads lately popping up on it lately, guess I will take a cue from j-cat and just not talk about it here.

debatable comparing $ for $..

too flashy for me.. it makes them look cheap..

I haven't heard of any agencies carrying them either..

SVI is a match grade target gun, Professional is a match grade combat gun. One of the few handguns I would chose over it would be a Mk23

Like in the previous post. I called the shop and they had 2. So, I bought it without to bid on gun broker. Saved me around $70 buck for over bid. I can use it for ammo break in

Finally, it can join with its cousin (springfield TRP) and other .45 ACP relative :D.
Thanks for every body comments
