wow man, I really thought there was a problem based on the thread title.

take a deep breath, its not life or death, lol.

This is a very simple task that doesn't require removal of the barrel.

1. Push the hinge pin as far forward as you can (only a few thou).
2. Carefully remove the C clip.
3. Carefully slide the hinge pin out to the rear.

Reverse the instructions to reassemble.

Ive never done it. But was at addax tactical's shop when my buddy was installing his engraved dust cover. Basically you gotta loosten the rail from what I remember since the lil rod holding it is blocked by the rail and cant be slid out until its all outa the way.

Maybe someone else can chime in who has easier tips

It looks to me like your going to have to remove the rail though.

NOOO Stop telling him to remove the rail. He just has to do as Tomd1584 said. There is a small C clip on the right end you gotta get some needle nose pliers and remove then slide the rod out. I would remove the C Clip somewhere you can find it very easily if it falls.

Not applicable with the Vltor uppers Noveske uses on some of their models.

I have an N4 Light Recce Low Profile...;)

I would like to change the cover too, but it seems impossible to uninstall the dust cover on a Vltor VIS upper without taking apart either the forward assist or the bottom hand rail, and that's why VIS always comes with dust cover factory installed.

I just took a look at my VIS and it doesn't look easy. The front rail obviously can't be removed. You'd have to remove the shell deflector assembly.

You may want to give Vltor a call before doing anything.

I wanted a link (video) or detailed instructions. What I got from this was good luck. I dont think I have the skills to complete the task, or tools!
arbor press?

We really donít recommend it as it can be quite tricky to do it correctly, and without marring your receiver. The only thing holding it in the dovetail is a roll pin, but the receiver must be supported from the inside so that it doesnít crush it. It can also raise a burr on the inside thatíll need to be removed. An arbor press is your friend.

Thank you for using VLTOR,

Leave it alone. Engraved dust-covers, while cool, are unneccessary. Hey, you're rocking a Noveske Monolithic - should be plenty of cool factor already.

yea, the instructions posted earlier is not correct for VLTOR (Noveske) VIS and MUR receivers. for these, swapping out the cover requires you to remove the forward assist. this is not easily done and i do not recommend it.

I think it was pretty easy.:D

I just replaced my port cover on my MUR with a "break yo self" cover from your store. All you really need is a set of punches, hammer and a steady hand.

1. Remove your BCG.
2. Tap out the Forward assist pin to remove Forward assist assembly
3. Tap out the pin Holding the Deflector assembly
4. Assembly then slides off
5. You can now remove c-clip and change out the dust cover:D

(When reinstalling pin for deflector assembly make sure that you do not punch it all the way through to where it touches your bcg)
