You would figure that with all this money and time they could un-brickify it just a LITTLE FREAKING BIT!

Looks like the dust cover is still bent like on all glocks. That really gets on my nerves!

Might be my next glock though. Just gotta wait a few years for them to be available in california so I can hold one.

When you're alive, and the bad guy is not, you'll think your Glock is the most beautiful chunk of metal and plastic you have ever seen.

My Gen 2 Glock 19 is old as dirty, and ugly as sin, but I couldn't love it more if I tried.

Anyone know if the Gen 4 Glocks are going to completely replace its Gen 3 counterpart in production?

When I am alive and the bad guy is not, I'll look down at my 12 GA shotgun, and think, "I'm really glad I picked up a long gun not a hand gun."

We cant CCW here so I really cant think of many situations in which I would have to defend myself with a handgun. But if you want to play that game, I would look down at my CZ75B and think, "That is the most beautiful piece of metal I have ever seen, good thing it is dead reliable AND ATTRACTIVE, and not just one of the two."

The same can be said of sig's m&p's xd's p01's ECT ECT ECT

It isn't 1980 glocks aren't the only reliable autoloading pistols anymore.

So CZ's, 1911s, Hi Power's, Sigs etc, etc. Were not reliable in the 1980's? Glock really did not take of till the early 90's. And then it was because they are simple, cheap and a good gun for a beginner and large LE departments that need lots of the same gun thats easy to train lots of differant people on.

They are very good guns, but not the only very good gun that Glock fanboys believe to be true.

Notblake
06-19-2010, 12:47 AM
In the 1980's cz's were not around, well not in english speaking countries sigs were reliable but more expensive, xd's m&p's had not been invented and frankly I don't put 1911's and hi powers in the same ultra reliable category, they go in the very reliable catagory.

I don't dislike glocks. In fact as a machine I like them very much, I just HATE the glock fanboys who think that their gun is the only reliable gun in the world

Alll new Gen4s come with the new high cap Gen4 mags.

I'm fine with Gen 3 Glocks also. I actually prefer the Gen 2 grip better than the finger grooves of the Gen 3, but I usually just grind them off and heat stipple them anyways. I'm not bothered that I can't get a Gen 4 because there isn't much wrong with the previous generations in my opinion. I get tired of chasing the "newest best thing". If I never get a Gen 4, I will still be good to go.

Being a new Glock model. Won't it be required to have a magazine disconnect to be California legal.

All the older Glocks were Grandfathered before the magazine disconnect
requirement.

CA goal is to dwindle the supply of handguns down to "0"

I was able to fondle a few Gen 4 G17's. They're better than the Gen 3. Also, the Gen 3 10 rounders fit the Gen 4 guns as long as you don't change the mag release to the right side.

You don't have to sit around and wonder if a gun is "California Legal," i.e., on the roster, or not. There is a link to the roster right here on Calguns. You can search it on the internet, with "DOJ, guns, roster, CA," and it will take you directly to the roster.

The Gen4 is NOT on the roster. You may have seen a bunch of them at a store, but they are for sale to LE only.

I love my Gen4 G17. I probably wont buy another glock that isn't a Gen4...unless I can steal it like the $400 Glock21 in my area for $400...yes $400...if only it was an SF.

Here's to hoping the roster will crash and burn! G4 FTW!

The only reason I care for the 4th gen is that I've read without the back straps, it's suppose to have a smaller grip than the previous gens.

I want to get a glock pretty badly, but after shooting the G19 and G26 multiple times, I can't get myself to like the grip.

Fwiw, on one of the other forums there is talk about issues with the new double recoil spring assembly on the Gen 4's being too heavy for target 9mm ammo, causing cycling problems in some of the guns.

The springs were beefed up to better handle .40 duty loads and the same weight springs are used in the G17's. With duty or hot 9mm loads, not a problem. But with some of the lighter target loads, the spring is just too heavy.

One guy said he talked to Glock's customer support guys about this problem in his G17 and they said they are aware of the issue and plan to come out with a target ammo lighter weight recoil spring assembly 'soon'.

Also, the new recoil spring assembly is not interchangeable with the older gen G17's....

I suppose one could go with lighter after-market recoil springs and guide rods, when those hit the market....

Makes me think the Gen 3's are fine....

If they do it will be because Springfield, Smith & Wesson, and maybe even Ruger forced them to stay competitive.

Honestly that is the only reason Glock came out with the grip and mag release updates.
