Hey yall title pretty much says it. My friend has come upon two revolvers due to a death in the family. I've looked at them closely but I do not know enough about revolvers. Hoping you guys can help clue me in to what they are and roughly what they are worth. (Although not for sale yet!)

Thanks
P.S. the smaller one is a .22 and says something about Italy on the barrel. Neither has a book or box or anything else.

Not sure on the SAA, it looks like an Italian copy of a Colt SAA. The Smith looks like a model 66 to me. I think if you open the cylinder there should be a number stamped where the crane locks into the frame. Hope this helps.

No clue for revolver #1.
Revolver #2 appears to be a Smith & Wesson Model 66 in 4". Probably an early gun. If you look inside the frame where the cylinder opens, below the barrel, you should see a number 66-?? that will tell you which dash it is. No dash is the earliest, dash 1 next, dash 2 and so on. The '66' is the model number.
It is a 'K' frame, which is in the medium size and is one of the many S&W models that would be considered as a decent piece. It is basically the same as a blued Model 19 only in stainless steel.

Ok so I'll have to check out the inside of the frame. Any ideas on value? Or does it vary greatly depending on if it is a - or -1 or -2?

The 22lr is a TANFOGLIO imported by Excam. In that shape its probably worth maybe $25 bucks. You can find decent ones for under $100.

The 357mag is a Smith and Wesson Model 66 Stainless Combat Magnum. Its probably 25+ yrs old ... seeing its got the pinned barrel. Its worth between $500 - $600.

These prices are MY estimates only, I did not refer to any printed materials.

#1 is an FIE/Excam single action revolver. Tons of these were imported from Italy during the 60s due to the cowboy craze.

#2 like mentioned before is a M66. Nice gun. I like them in 2 1/2 inch.

Your Tanfoglio Italian made revolver is more then likely the Buffalo Scout model and your particular simple was import by Excam.

The Model 66 is either a no dash or -1, cannot tell from the pictures.

what i found as a laugh was the fact that the Tanfofio has what appears to be a target grip with a thumbrest but is a fixed sight revolver .

That model 66 pinned and recessed is desirable. it probably doesn't even have a "dash number" like 66-2. if it does it might be a 66-1, but either way worth $500.

looks to have the wide trigger and target hammer to go along with the adj. sights.

ON EDIT, Black Majik beat me to it, but yeah, not a bad piece to have if you are going to collect revolvers.

just a slight point: the hammer and trigger on the M-66 are the standard (narrow) types. they have been flash chromed to match the frame.
