Del-ton now now has dissipator uppers. They are 16" barrels but the have rifle length gas tubes. I thought normally on dissipators they use a carbine length gas tube and the gas block is hidden under the handguards. I guess I'm just wondering how well the del-ton version will run. Any thoughts on this? Mark

Are you sure about the rifle length gas tube ??? I didn't see that anywhere in the link ... All I saw was standard (rifle) length handguards.

Even if its a rifle length gas tube I think it'll run awesome !! I think DTI's aren't a Noveske or DD but at that price point it should be gtg.

If you are REALLY not sure you can wait and see if you can pick up an Armalite, DPMS, RRA for cheap ...

I would just get it from Bushmaster. Hell, they thought of the concept years ago. Del-ton's upper may or may not be from Bushy. The whole idea is to have a carbine gas tune and rifle sight radius. My Bushmaster Dissy upper on Olyarms RAW has never skipped a beat.

Here's a link from the del-ton forum. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=2&f=100&t=191228 "Laura" from del-ton says they have a rifle length gas system. I'm not getting one but I'm curious why other diissipator uppers don't use a rifle length gas system. Mark

railroader,

Bushmaster is the only company that I know of that uses a gas system under the hand-guards. This is to ensure reliable functioning during the cycleing phase. You need about 4 inches of barrel in front of the gas block to ensure reliable functioning. I too have been thinking aout a version for my collection but it's not too popular.
