I was wondering how do you check if a used aimpoint is in working condition and if its authentic? thanks. wondering if i should buy a used one or spring for a new one.

where are you buying it from? What model? Usually, clones only have like 7 brightness settings, but the Ml2, M2, ML3, M3 have 10.
I would do this, in this order:
1. Ask the seller if it works.
2. Ask for the serial number. If its a clone, you can type in the serial # into google and it will pop up most of the time.
3. If FTF, ask to see it before you buy it.

i use ar15.com for things like this, i dont recommend using them for anything else except their trade boards which have the most visability in the gun world.

Easiest way is to ask for a picture of the SN so that you can call up Aimpoint and have them check it. It's also a good way to ensure you dont end up with a Aimpoint that was stolen from the military.
