Particularly out of an AR with a barrel with a 1 in 7 rate of twist? If so, what kind of accuracy are you getting in terms of MOA and how does it compare to accuracy at only 100 yds?

55gr fmj is just about all I plink with. It shoots fine past 300yds but my twist is 1:9

Well it's at least that good, I know it can do better though, I mean I was easily hitting it with my battlfield pickup Yugo M64 AK soooo.

Wouldnt that be considered sub MOA at 300yds? What type of setup do you have? 20"? Scoped?

I shoot to 700 yds and have a very high percentage of hits at that range.

With iron sights, I can shoot 1 MOPP (minute of paper plate) at 300 yards with 55 fmj's.

My ARs are both 1/7 twists and I manage to hit the steel at 300 and even some 400s.

Lots of guys shoot 3-gun with 55 gr out of 1/7 and 1/8 barrels. Targets are typically 8" round steel @ up to 375 yds or so around here. However, when the wind starts kicking up you will start hating life. Serious competitors will often run heavier weight bullets for the long range stages.

esskay's spot on. With the moderate to high winds at Pala's 3-gun match, 55 and even 62 grain bullets get blown as much as 2-3 feet off to the right at 375yds.

I've got 1:8 at 24" and .936" diam. I shot Fed 55 gr FMJs out to 400 with much success at angeles range. 500 and 600 + a breeze threw my shots pretty bad

i don't know about accuracy, but i can hit 2'x3' man-sized targets out to 500 yds with 55 grainers out of 1/7 and 1/9 16" barrels. i've also lobbed them out to 700+ yds, but with a really low percentage of hits.

Don't know about MOA, but can hit the steel from 200-600 yrds rested with a magnified 2MOA Aimpoint. This is on a 16" pretty standard AR

There is a 10" diameter 2-3ft long pipe at about 350 yards out at a desert shooting spot I go to. With my DD 16" 1-7twist barrel, iron sights and crappy federal 55gr I can hit it 70-80% of the time.

I have shot M16A1 and M16A2 in the Marine Corps out to 500 meters. My best score was 245/250. I shot both 55 grain FMJ and 62 grain M855's. Never failed to qualify as an expert for 6 years.

with my 20" upper scoped i can hit 10 for 10 at 300 yds with the right adjustments to the scope for windage. i was surprised that the 55 grainers were just as accurate at that range as 75 grainers with no wind!
