I'm still can't believe they came out with that deal to begin with. That really is INSANE. If any of you are looking for a real tac drive at a VERY low price look no more then here.

What is keeping you from doing that!?!?

By the way, so far, I have only been shooting .223(AE223) caliber thru that barrel.....

Have anyone been cycling 5.56 thru it??

.223 is good through 5.56, 5.56 is NOT advisable through .223.

I do it everytime I'm out at the range. No problems to report.

FYI: The $379.99 'sale' price is the same as the dealer price for that item.

So you don't have to buy this very moment if you know someone with a dealer account with Midway.

they updated their pic, to get rid of the chrome plated bolt/carrier- not making that same mistake again...

Yea, but the problem is after you buy all the stuff to build your rifle ie., stock LPK, bipod. etc. you can buy a kit from Model 1 with a 1:8 barrel and forward assist (not that you really need that) bolt cover & bipod for almost the same price, less actually.

The price for the Model 1 kit is $570 + or - shipped.

This one after you buy everything is around $594 + or - ($379 upper+ $65 LPK+ $65 stock & buffer/spring+ $10 extended take down pin + $50 bipod + shipping of about $25.

This is a really good deal if you already have your lower built up. I already have one built up this one is gonna be for paper punchin'.

Thanks for all the input though, I tend to over analyze everything.:D

Or if you have dealer prices then the rest of the kit comes out cheaper.

Just wondering, what upper are you using? This same one?

Thanks for letting us know of the deal, JickoRicko. I missed the last one and was hoping to get in on the next deal.

I, personally, have heard horror stories about Model1Sales.... so.... I wouldn't touch it even with a yard-stick....

There are just a couple of brand that I wouldn't touch personally..... vulcan.... model1.... alike...

wasn't this deal cheaper before? $359?...still very tempting.

Jicko
04-02-2006, 8:16 PM
I think so... I think it was $359 + $13shipping -> $372... but then you get $40 refund for the non-chrome bolt.....

Yet... $379.... pretty nice price...

would anyone like to put in a small review about this upper (those of you who own one or have received it) ?

Noticed it doesn't have forward assist nor a dust cover ... any input ?

If we're on the subject of cheap parts kits, there's two I've been eyeing for friends lately...

20" A2 rifle kit: $549.95 (http://www.floridagunworks.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=FG&Product_Code=174&Category_Code=PK+PARTSKITS)
16" CAR rifle kit: $495.00 (http://www.floridagunworks.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=FG&Product_Code=183&Category_Code=PK+PARTSKITS)

No brand listed on these though, that I can see. Anyone have any input on 'em? They come from Florida Gun Works...

Yeah, for those who have this upper already. Do you ever find yourself needing the FA? I know that in my oly upper, the first round loaded sometimes doesn't make it all the way into battery. The FA becomes pretty useful. Any input?

...

I notice that they have a $15 for handpick, even though these are all new parts. Kinda different. (Probably just coding on all parts kits)

Stay away from Florida Gun Works. The internet is full of stories, where they collect money and then you may not get the part for months or it is not in the condition advertised.

I liked it.

> no forward assist!? This has been cover numerous times. Try to "search" for it. 1 sentense answer: "it is not useful"

> no dust cover? Most bolt-action rifles don't have dust-covers. The "dust cover" is a feature on these "battle rifles", or "to be abused rifles".... I don't think I'll ever throw my varmint AR into the sand, nor I'll abuse it too far.... I think I'll carefully carry it around, and I will pack it nicely in a rifle case or a rifle bag..... (I have an expensive optics on it too....)... so... i am not too concern with the "no dust cover" issue...

anymore reviews on this thing? How does it compare to the RRA varmint A4(besides bbl twist)?

What about bipod swivel?

I'm wondering how it would perform if I fed it some winchester whitebox varmint jhp's

Was waiting for the rings to come in. Finally got the Leupold PRW High Rings in. I think I need a scope riser now. I guess some more research and waiting is in order.:( :o

I agree stay away from Florida Gun Works I have read a lot of horror stories about them if you want a cheap CAR kit I recommend Model1sales. Both kits I have purchased have worked out great.

This is with the YHM227A 1/2" riser. $31 shipped from ebay. Probably not the best.... but... it is CHEAP... and it is a quality item.... not some Airsoft stuff

Am looking seriously at the RRA riser for $60 or so. By the way, why is your scope mounted so far forward? I thought it should have a eye relief of 3-4 inches or is that only while focusing initially?

Sorry if the question is stupid. Still trying to understand this scope thing.

Jacumba.... *sigh*

I'd like to find a decent location closer to SD that is a little more pristine. While I wouldn't mind cleaning up a little of the mess, I shouldn't have to. When I first saw those pictures I was rather disappointed that I should have to go out into such a mess to shoot.

Be sure to PM me when you found that location, I'm way too interested in doing so too....

But I think the only places that are available are private ranges(memberships)... or public ranges(per usage fee)... I probably won't want to go to public ranges with my ARs....
