Possibly interested in a 5 in gun... if it has any real advantage over my XD with a 5 in barrel...which I don't really carry much anymore...I like it an all...just...well....I carry a 1911 most of the time... perhaps I need to order a holster from TT gunleather for it?
and one for my Sig 45...
and one for my Beretta 92...
and....:43:

Yes. All of the XDs are. SA just bought the right to import it and put their name on it.

I think the new ergo grip is a nice improvement over the XD.

Although I'd rather have a HK45.

It was/is called a HS2000 prior to the XD. When SA acquired the distribution rights for U.S. sales (It may be North America, I can't recall) they decided to call it XD (Xtreme Duty). It is still called the HS2000 elsewhere.

IIRC, it is made in the same factory where the old Yugo car was made (not very well mind you:D)

Can't really tell the grip size on that picture. But either way, it will be hard to get in CA with any reason enough pricing.

I tried the Glock. Too boxy and uncomfortable Grip for me. Just bought the XD..but thinking the XDm might be a nice addition.

I dont think voting would help. the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia would never allow nice guns. Blue states are never gun friendly

I shot a friends XD 45 Tactical and it shot well, but felt REALLY top heavy, and had much more recoil then my Sig. I can't see jones'in for a gun we (the general public) most likely will never be able to buy any way.

Nice gun, but besides the looks and slight ergonomic changes and mine doesnt have a match barrel Id say my gun is pretty much an XDm, but if it comes out in the 3.8...HELLO!!!!! lol

Disagree, it starts with support at the local level...City Councils Sheriff Mayor. Then as those persons get experience you can be one of the groups which supports them for higher office.

I have done this for years while a labor union organizer...it works it really does.

If it works are you gonna fix CA's AW ban and the other fascist mess we are in?

What are the (perceived) advantages of the XDM over the XD or a glock? I'm curious as I'm a 1911 guy. Big hands and I love the single stack and small trigger movements.

Very true... be prepared to pay thru the nose with PPT. If the XDm in 9mm was going for 1200 on the private sales forum, this one will probably be upwards of 1400 - 1500. An HK45 recently popped up in that forum with a ~1400-1500 price tag...someone PMd an "I'll take it" within 5 minutes after the initial ad was posted.

It must be nice to have that much disposable moola laying around!

Damn good looking XDm though...

Alledgedly, the m-series pistols were designed to branch into competition use vs. duty use. They have increased magazine capacity compared to the original XD line. My buddies XD(m) 9mm comes with a 19-round flush-fit magazine. The .45 will hold 13+1 rounds. The mags aren't compatible, as the (m) mags are wider and thicker (for strength).

The frame has some additional recesses to make reaching the controls easier. The trigger guard is undercut for a higher grip, and is flat.

You no longer need to pull the trigger for take-down. The trigger is supposed to be better in every aspect than the XD, but I've never fired an XD so I couldn't say.

Of course, you can't forget the match barrel.

I prefer the feel of my Kimber, but his 9mm is a really accurate weapon.

The folks on XDtalk has shown that the XD45 10 round mags will fit and work just fine in the XD(m).45 so at least you can use those if you ever PPT the gun. With the 9mm or .40 XD(m) handguns, you need to modify the mags to 10 rounds to make them CA compliant.

If they ever come out with a 3.8 version, it's something I may look into to do an intrafamily transfer on. Otherwise, I like shooting the G21 SF and I already have some pre-ban mags for the G21.

I like the looks of the XDm 45 ACP in all black. It has the same capacity as the XD so I'm not loosing sleep over it not being available in CA.

Springfield Armory already shipped XDm's to California. They are the anti-gunners in Sacramento called (X)tremely (D)umb (m)orons. You don't need to go to a free state to find one. Look at Saldana, De Leon, Schwarz, etc. etc..

Actually M&P fanboy.... and it is well known that the XD is not a big time pistol... Bad Ergos, Sight over bore issue, and it's really top heavy which makes it very unbalanced leading to inaccuracy. They tried to fix the accuracy problem by upgrading the barrel, but it has a lot to do with the design and less to do with the barrel.

Pray tell, what is a "sight over bore issue?"

It's center of sights to center of bore.

Checkout Magpuls handgun DVD and you will learn why the XD is not an option.

No...not just Chris Costa and Travis Haley.... Larry Vickers, Kyle Defoor, and more.... At what point do you stop listening to the minimum wage gun shop folks and start listening to the professionals... They don't specifically knock the XD but they do give really high praise for the 1911, M&P, and Glock.

Also there is a reason you hardly ever see an XD in the military and law enforcement community.

Well I am not a professional shooter and most people are not either, BTW I know a member that is on the board that is an American badass and he has a few XD's, go figure. what I am saying is the XD is fine for 99% of the shooters out there.

I dont listen to those people either, I listen to people that I know that have experience, and I listened to what I felt when I shot mine. And your last sentence doesnt really mean much for many reasons, I will leave it at that.
