Isn't there a shooting range in the Whittier Narrows Rec Park? It's right next to the RC field as far as I know. Has anyone been there?

There is a range to the north of the RC Field, but the last time that I was there I did not see anyone shooting there. You may want to call the LA county parks system to see if it is operational.

Yes, there is a range next to the RC field. It is operated by the Los Angeles Rifle and Revolver Club and has been in continuous operation for almost sixty years. I shot there as a Junior in the early '70's and rejoined the Club about three years ago.
Currently the range is limited to smallbore prone and three position style target shooting; soon a range modification will allow rimfire benchrest shooting as well. The Club may inherit the Junior program from the San Gabriel Rifle Club in Fish Canyon as well.
Club matches (prone) are held most every Sunday; N.R.A. registered matches are held throughout the year. The link should get you to the Club website:

Thanks a lot guys.

Isn't it the other way around. I heard the rc flyers are not supposed to overfly the gun range but there will always be a few errants and they got cited many times that they're not allowed to fly after lunch anymore.

I think there's another range south of I-60 and the Whittier Narrows rec park along Rosemead near some sort of strawberry or cherry farm.

I'm gonna have my nephew and nieces sign up with the CRPA and introduce them to target shooting. It's time they know how to exercise and enjoy their constitutional rights and have a feel of what the rest of their peers got it going in the free states.

That video of the little girl in the Oklahoma target shoot firing off her dad's mg really put a smile to any dad's face.

Sorry folks if I have to bring the url again but I just love that video:

And IIRC there was an archery range there as well.
