Looking at both Springfield Loaded 1911 A1 SS and Kimber 1911 Custom II SS
Would like feedback on both handguns
Build quality, ease of use, customer service

These two are the most compared 1911s on the internet.
I'll give a quick cliffnotes version.
Springfield vs Kimber:
No firing pin block vs. Swartz Safety
ILS in MSH vs nothing
Better trigger in Kimber
Better fit in Kimber (subjective)
2 pc FLGR vs 1 pc FLGR (slight advantage to Kimber, toss both out for GI short rod and plug)
Springfield has better customer service
FWIW, in this case, a search would really help you understand the differences. Also consider the Smith and Wesson 1911PD, Dan Wesson PM7, and Colt XSE.

The tolerances in a Kimber is slightly tighter than a Springfield loaded. I've noticed that the slide on a Springfield has some wobble to it that my Kimber doesn't have.

Just thought I would add that the Springfield Armory ILS is a California approved safety device. I know at least the older loaded models had real Novak sights. Try to handle both before you buy.

I have both the SA Loaded and a DW PM-7. My Loaded has a reasonably tight slide to frame fit and is extremely reliable. Accuracy is terrific for the price. See shooting comparison of SA to DW at 25 yards.
I believe the SA Loaded is around $750 to $850. The DW is closer to $1,100. Big difference is price. The more you pay the more finished the gun will be - in general terms.
This topic has been beaten to death before. I was in the same boat like you before choosing my Loaded.
Bottom line: both guns are great, I just went with SA because of their customer service (like Richard had mention above).

I'll keep an eye open for this Thread. My dad was looking at these two pistols, so I'll tell him the comments. But I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

Springer... unless you can get your hands on a series 1 Kimber... The Kimber's aren't what they were.
try these forums
Both are full of respected people within the industry...especially when it comes to the 1911.

I had three SA at one time. Sold all three. I now have Kimbers and would never go back to SA.
I will also say this. It's like comparing Ford to Chevy. Some like them, some don't. Buy what's comfortable to you.

I have a Kimber Eclipse so of course I will say Kimber. I have shot both Springers and Kimbers and just prefer Kimbers. Also the looks of the Eclipse series is second to none IMO.

I have an SA Trophy Match and it is a nice gun. SA has great customer service, which I found out when my front sight snapped off while shooting. That being said, my CZ 97B shoots circles around it and the CZ is stock and cost half the price.
