Hi Folks, I've just noticed that Rock Island has started to make 1911s in 9mm and I'm wondering if they have plans to bring them to California. Does anyone have the cusomter server contact info (tried looking on web but with no success)? Thanks.

The RIA 1911A1-09 FS GI is not on the current Roster of approved handguns although there are several 9mm versions of RIA that are available.
There are MAPP1 & AP9 series Pistols on the CA-DOJ roster.

They don't have a loaded chamber indicator or a magazine disconnect so they won't be coming here unless the law changes. Mark

RIA customer service (http://www.advancedtactical.com/advancedtactical/) is top notch. Ivan's staff is excellent and they back their RIA line 100%

How then are other GI 1911's allowed here? Is this requirement a new addition to the roster? None of my 1911's have had either of these.

The list only applies to those guns transferred through a dealer and has no relationship to what 1911s are legal here.

Yes, this requirment is for any guns ADDED to the roster. Those on the list BEFORE new rules are exempt, which is most 45cal 1911s being sold in Ca.
And Armscor customer service is the best I have ever had to deal with.
To the op, RIA has a 380 1911 that is on the roster. From what I hear, it doesnt take much to adapt it to a 9mm.

When did these regs come into effect?

Sorry, the bill that added the loaded chamber indicator passed in 2003. So guns on roster before 03 dont have to include the extra features, but any after 03 do. http://info.sen.ca.gov/pub/03-04/bill/sen/sb_0451-0500/sb_489_bill_20030924_chaptered.html
