OK First question...can I do the thumbprint myself? I've done plenty of thumb rollin on 4473's so I think I could get a good print on the paper.

Second question- My kid loves guns almost as much as I do. I see on the form I can jointly register the 50 with family members. Problem is, my kid is 5. Can I register this with him? When I die I want the gun to stay in California. Should I just drop the whole registration thing with my kid? I don't want to raise any huge red flags and possibly screw something up.

Didn't anyone tell you. The city of San Jose has a ban on 50 bmg rifles :D

1. Thumb print- you can do it yourself. No problem there.

2. Kid age 5 thing, you might want to call DOJ and ask. On the form it doens't say anything about age though. But my guess is that they, joint registrants, need to be of 18 years of age because it requires signature. I don't think minors can sign legal document.

Then again I am not sure.

1 Rolled my own, no problem; registration accepted.
2. The .50 BMG Faq at DOJ states must be 18 and a family member residing in the same household.

Yes, sir. I did the thumb print by myself. No problem at all. I have received the acknowledged letter form CA DOJ already.
