Here is an American Derringer DA-38 in the 40 S&W. $650 price drop $550 $500 $450 $430

This is a hard to find Derringer, especially in California. Much harder to find in .40 S&W. I contacted American Derringer and they're charging $750 for a DA-38 in .40, plus shipping, but they don't ship to California.

This is a great defensive round, and ideal for this small firearm package. Being all stainless steel, it is great for all weather use as its intended purpose – a backup piece. It's in excellent condition, it does have a small chip in the top of the lever. It's been fired around 20-30 rounds. It does have some kick to it, but is controllable. At defensive ranges it hits where you need it to. Comes with the factory soft case and the factory wood grips as pictured. FYI, the extractor holds onto the rimless round, and doesn't like to let go, so unloading takes a little effort, or a tool.

I'm in South Orange County.

I was planning on getting polymer grips off ebay, and a molded leather pocket holster for it, but I need to raise some funds, so I've decided to sell it. An ideal backup pocket gun to a .40S&W Glock, carries much better in the pocket than a Glock 27, Kahr PM40, even better than a J-Frame (sure it only has two rounds, but on a get off me gun, two in .40 is plenty. Plus two rounds in a gun on you beats a fully loaded gun left at home.. If you like to keep your guns in a .40, this is the gun for you.

I'll post a pic later tonight.

Thanks Bud also the part that is chipped or cracked can it be something that can be replaced or is it on the upper or lower frame thanks.

Not the barrel (upper frame) nor the lower frame. It's on the latch that holds the barrel in place. Should be replaceable (I would assume).

I see it to the top left and maybe to the top right as well . Did you notice any cracks behind it or beside it ? You also said they do not ship guns to cal do you know if they ship parts ? Do you also have a part # in your owner manual for this upper latch so I can see how much it will cost to get replaced if it can even be replaced .

Just one chip, the top right is reflection to the light. They would probably ship parts. I don't have an owners manual for it, so I don't have a part number. Here's their contact info to ask.
