This 1951 Russian SKS has been sitting in my closet for 15 years and it's about time I sell it. I purchased it in 1995 from a dealer in Northridge, California (still have the original receipt) I have put less than 25 rounds through this gun. I have all of the accessories it came with as shown in the photos. I don't know how many rounds went through it before that point but the condition is definitely excellent. I would like $350.00 for it. I live in Santa Monica and the purchaser would need to come pick up the gun. It's my understanding that this transaction would be exempt from dealer of record sale requirements since the gun is older than 50 years.

This sale is why I generally avoid zero-feedback, one-post, hit-n-run sellers. Live and learn (again). Add another seller to my 'list'.

looks like he has feedback now! The other guy must have PM'd him first?

How come my geniric post of an "I'll take it" for any fantastic deals that I posted 4 years ago and continually post every few weeks for threads like this with a great deal meanin my post for the great deal should have sufficed was not honored again!.

I should have had this based upon my August 26th post in 2006 that said I will take any great deal of the wek which this qualifies for.

Seriously though, I am surprised there is no bickering by members complaining they were the one that should have got this, kind of refreshing to not see that for a change!

350.00 for that SKS is a steal. If that were gunbroker or auctionarms
it would be back up for sale next week for 450.00 easy. Those folks at auctionarms play nice together if your a seller in the click. Buyer, good luck on a great gun, OP great deal and thanks for offering it on Calguns.

jreynolds56 if you read post wanted ftf trade and local pickup cash in hand , i just had three other post this past 15 days to purchase item and they were sold after i posted first
guess there are no rules to who to sell to , AT LEAST JERYNOLDS 56 HAD THE COURTESY TO SELL to me, after i met his requirement of his post , guess one can say they pm the person only and did not post first and use that excuse to sell the item
for a higher price ?

Actually I was thanking the OP for offering the great deal on his sks to Calgunner's instead of on an auction site where the Buyer's buy cheap and offer the same gun at a huge profit.
No offense intended. JT

no problem, no offense taken at all johnthomas the form is great i just get a little puzzle
its up to the seller i guess really who he wants to sell to i guess bottom line , i think
there is no way to really get the item first even if you post first , like i stated before i did
not get to purchase three different item that i posted first, which i guess you can argue, who got there first , each cal gunner said they got
a pm before my posted , i guess those are the rules ? not to sure i looked it up but could not find anything on it

best regards

im really surprised no one corrected this statement at least so much to mention one of the parties needed a C&R, or did everyone wet their pants at the chance to get a damn nice rifle "off the books" so to speak.

qoute "It's my understanding that this transaction would be exempt from dealer of record sale requirements since the gun is older than 50 years"

Actually, for a ftf c&c none of the parties need a C&R.....

Yup! That what it says

"Antique firearms," as defined in Section 921(a)(16) of Title 18 of the United States Code, and curio or relic rifles/shotguns, defined in Section 178.11 of Title 27 of the Code of Federal Regulations that are over 50 years old, are exempt from this requirement.

So no government intervention is required as long as you don't buy it from an FFL.

The exemption from California DROS and waiting period requirements does NOT exempt you from Federal law, which requires that you only sell it to someone that is a resident of your home state and that you believe is not a prohibited purchaser. Furnishing a felon with a firearm, is, well, a felony.

As for SKS prices, what's the highest people have seen them sell for? It seems $500 is pretty commonplace for Russian examples these days. Is anyone seeing differentials on solid versus laminated stocks? How about year of production? I've got a 1950 I've been sitting on for many years and have toyed with the idea of selling.

Cheers!
