Well, R3dn3ck and I went out looking for pigs. It was dark by the time we met up, but we hiked in 2 miles in the dark and set up camp anyway. There really weren't any pigs, but at one point we ran across a Diamondback and R3dn3ck got it with an M1 carbine. It was a great trip on which the mentoring helped tremendously, but no pig. LOL Driving home we saw a whole herd of elk on the hillside and a crowd with cameras on the road. Oh, well. There's always next time.

well maybe next time, the best way to get good at pig hunting is to pig hunt. Just like everything else i guess.

How did you cook the snake?

That is about a 2-3 year old snake. They don't get a button every year. They get a button when they shed. They also lose their buttons over time and get them back when they shed.

Haha. Love that you're skinning it in a public parking lot. That's awesome.

Did you see the elk off highway 20

Hey 180, you want some? I haven't cooked it yet. It's in the fridge. I took it for a friend, but I think reality has set in now that I told him I brought it home. LOL

LLoyd I only skinned it there because we were on private property when we got it, and I had to P. So first we went to a Shell station and, then, drove around the corner to a Church parking lot. LOL

Mrg2680 yeah, the Elk were up on a hillside about 15 miles in from the 5 freeway, on the south side. There must have been about 9 or 10 at least. Makes you hold your breath if you're alone in the woods with no Warden around. LOL

I would love to see somebody roll up on the Elk and legally take one with a rifle while all the hippies are looking at them through binolulars and snapping pictures! Preferably do it close to them

That would be a true Youtube moment! LOL!

Abe,

I'll be throwing one on the grill this afternoon. If you're up for the drive, the grill is big enough for two.

That is about a 2-3 year old snake. They don't get a button every year. They get a button when they shed. They also lose their buttons over time and get them back when they shed.

A lot of buttons have broken off so, it's impossible to know how many times it has shed.

It looked maybe 6 years or so you can tell from the dark color and length. They shed more than once a year also usually 3-5 times so it is hard to tell the age by just the rattle. Nice snake. Thanks for the pics. Why didnt you leave the rattle on the skin and tan it?

This is about how big the one was I killed. It is not my pic.

My boy and I were on our way back from Redding on highway 20 and saw 14 elk, 3 deer, 2 of the deer were bucks. They were about 100 yards off the road next to a small pond.It was a nice drive too bad i had to come back to L.A. Here are some pics of turkeys at my parents home. They're all over the place. You can hear them gobbling in the morning
