I just delivered the pilot batch of lowers to the customer who ordered them, and feedback was very good. Everyone who saw them was impressed and loved the as-machined finish!

I had some feedback on mag wells when I posted what I was working on. I did the first batch as machined with broached corners, this worked, but it was a process that is hard to streamline. I got a quote from a local EDM shop who will do the mag wells on all production units. The EDM process actually adds about 30 minutes to making a lower, but they can setup several at a time and walk away, so to be able to satisfy volume it is a better solution.

I have setup an information and ordering page on my website: http://www.eformance.com/projects/ar_80_lower.shtml

The cost is $179.95 for an 80% lower. I am running 16 lowers the week of June 7th and will continue to run around 25 or more a week to satisfy demand.

I will try to answer any questions I can. As for the "why" question, I think it has something to do with personal satisfaction and disdain for bureaucracy.

are they available without the integral trigger gaurd?

Do you mean no trigger guard at all, or machined to accept a standard trigger guard? It would be easy to eliminate the guard altogether. I'm certain the design shown doesn't have enough material for the front trigger guard retainer pin. I could alter the design if this is a desirable option.

Just an FYI, I have a GunPal account setup now for those who want to use that service. Also, if you have any questions, feel free to PM me or use the feedback form at my website. My feedback form is a way of securing my email address from spammers, it just goes to my email.

If you want to discuss these in person, you can also call me at 831-239-5000 or if you are local, you can come by my shop in Santa Cruz. My address is on my website.

It seems reasonable to be able to add this. I'll make the next run so that the trigger guard can be machined to accept a standard AR trigger guard. I could offer this as an option which is machined prior to shipment.

Just an FYI, I removed the PayPal button and put a GunPal Buy Now button on my site. Even though I'm not selling "receivers" as defined by the ATF, PayPal isn't limited to that black/white definition. Besides, GunPal makes it easier to setup to receive funds than PayPal. As soon as they bump me to a Premier account I can use their Virtual Terminal to take credit cards directly! :D

Crickets! There have been a lot of hits and people have commented on the quality, but nobody has ordered anything yet...

i would be interested if someone would organize a 80% lower build party somewhere in socal. i could use a lower for an AR pistol.

Vta, we are introducing a drill jig to fit our lowers and every single lower will include a drill jig with it. It has guides for all the FCG holes, the slide lock pivot, and includes a drill guide for roughing the FCG pocket. Additionally, the jig provides a template for finishing the FCG with an endmill, just like a router template.

We are including a drill jig with every lower purchased, so you don't have to go out an buy one, or borrow one.

Next week we are running 16 lowers and 16 jigs to get things started, order today and you should have it in your hands within 3 weeks.

Based on feedback and getting a quote from Pioneer Broach to do the magazine wells, I have lowered the price to $179.95. This gets you a 7075 Billet lower, your choice of finish (blasted or CNCed), and a drill jig.

I think that's a heck of a deal, considering you will save at least $60 on a drill jig.

Billet being the key word.

Just to throw out some ideas for people to ponder, I have considered doing group buys. A group buy gets you a discounted price just like a distributor, and if it's a club you can have custom engraving done.

I can do 25, 50, and 100 unit group buys. Also, I can do customized versions as special orders for specific shops.
