I missed it but, I will say that I've seen kills from 50BMGs and there has been LESS meat damage than some of the kills I've seen from 30-06s.

Why anyone would want to hunt with a 50 is beyond me!

I noticed this too. It seems like even hollow point 50's just blow through deer/boar. I saw a video of a deer running 50+ yards after bieng shot by a BMG. I usually hunt w/30-06 or .308 and the last couple of deer/boar I shot were hammered. I am sure shot placement matters quite a bit but I was expecting more damage from the BMG.

If it were a Hollow Point it would have vaporized. Other than that the animals are so narrow it has no time to expand and just passes right through.

its true. unless the animal has some kind of metallic armor on it, the 50 is just going to zip right through (HP or or not). I think the BMG is a great choice for super long range shots on pigs.

I have been throwing my 50 cal in the Jeep when I go just in case I get the chance for a 400yd+ shot on a hog. I can't wait for this to happen-

Really? Then, can you explain to me why an ex-FCSA member got a .510 hole through his gut while he was serving in Korea and he is still walking around over 50 years later?

I get so irritated when people that don't have ANY clue just make stuff up. Maybe that's why I dislike the VPC so much. But, all you guys who make statements about 50s, without having any facts to base your statements on, are just as bad as the VPC and, you are only feeding the anti's with more FUD to fuel their fire with.

equally as irritating when someone cracks a little joke, then it gets ripped apart in another post, like it was a serious statement.

Ive seen an antelope after a double lung shot with a 50 bmg, 750 grain hornady amax. Clean hole in one out the other, no meat damage.

Was a 500+ yard shot.

I hope I didn't rip you apart. The problem with your example is that it can be hard to read the "tone" of one's post sometimes. I'm probably one of the more sarcastic people here but, I also realize that sometimes my humor does not translate to text well.

It's the little things like internet posting gold that get me through the day without going postal.
