What receiver is off-list and available for purchase that has the configuration of the Saiga, meaning a straight stock, no pistol grip configuration where the trigger is moved back a bit so it can be fired from the conventional grip without a pistol grip?

This would allow a detachable magazine to be used and still be in compliance with sb23 as long as no other "evil" features are included.

Thank you.

(I am fairly ignorant about the AK situation and if a receiver like this is off-list and currently available).

none. you will have to drill a couple holes is all.

Nah couldn't he do what Norinco did with their "Hunter" AK back in the 1990s?

Just get some type of extended trigger and then move the rear of the trigger guard back a bit?

none. you will have to drill a couple holes is all.

I don't mind "drilling a couple holes". But to what end (I don't mean where on the receiver, I mean for what purpose)? Is that just so the stock fits or will it allow the trigger to be in a different position so it can be comfortably fired with a straight stock design?

If drilling a few holes will allow the trigger to be relocated, then that would be great (but it doesn't seem likely)

that's what they did to move the trigger back, they added a couple parts and drilled a couple holes for the pins for them.

the hammer is the same. there is a part on the existing trigger pin exactly like a trigger and sear but with the trigger spur (where your finger touches it) below the receiver cut off. and, the rear of the trigger assy is a bit higher on the bottom. that allows the

rocker-thingy about an inch long to force the rear of the trigger assy up, which is like you are pulling on the trigger spur. the rocker-thingy is attached to the receiver by a pin thru the sides of the receiver, just like the trigger and hammer pins are.

the rocker-thingy is actuated by a trigger, which has a catch extending from the top front. this trigger is also attached to the receiver by a cross pin. it extends through the bottom of the receiver through a hole you have to make.

the saiga stock fits just like a romanian AK stock.

it works by:

you pull the trigger back and up, the top end in the receiver moves forward and down. the nub on the top front catches the back of the rocker. the back of the rocker moves dowm, so the front moves up. the front of the rocker pries up the rear of the trigger assy in the receiver, just as if you were pulling a trigger attached to the bottom.

I have a different idea I am working on which is simpler and will not require any holes to be drilled. but for now, the above is how the Saigas work.

You may be able to figure it out in reverse from this process

....that's what I plan on doing.........if it proves to be to tough ,I'll send it out to these guys to do it for me.

Thank you very much. This has convinced me to get an AK receiver.

One last question, is the Saiga trigger (extended setup) available to purchase or will the trigger parts have to be fabricated or scavenged from a Saiga? I would imagine that the parts can be bought somewhere. (I can do the drilling, etc).

you can buy them from EAA if you are rich

fab them at home if you are talented and so equipped

scavenge from somebody who does the conversions if you are like me
