I am looking for a single point mount to use as a rear mount for my Vtac sling on my 6.5 Grendel.

Does anyone have any experience with:

???

I was wondering if it was as good as the Troy mount

http://www.opticsplanet.net/troy-professional-grade-receiver-sling-adapter.html

I think I like the third sling point on the KZ mount that is centered under the rifle in case I want to use a single point sling. I am just wondering about the fit, finish & quality.

Are there any others that are better and why?

Thanks.

David

I just got this http://midwestpx.com/product_info.php?cPath=62&products_id=282
pretty nice and easy to use, only negative with it is the loose metal pieces makes some minor noise if you don't have a sling attached to it...

I have a Noveske QD end plate that was like $25 but I haven't tried it because I'm running a two point currently. I was gonna get a Tactical Link Z360 for $75 but I wasn't planning on using a single point really so didn't want to spend the extra cash. They even have a titanium one for $142.

Is there any scratching of the lower because the mount is directly under the buffer tube?

I have a real Noveske lower and don't like scratches :) The Noveske plate would be cool on a Noveske N4

If youre afraid of scratches put a maxi pad on it. :D

It depends on the sling you use. If you use a sling with a metal QD, yes your lower will have scratches around that area.

I have a KZ mount and sling on one of my ARs. No issues. Can't complain for 30 bucks shipped. Blackhawk has a set pretty much identical to the KZ set I have, but for a lot less money. Go for it.

the noveske sling plate shouldnt scratch up the lower anymore so than the original buffer plate it replaces. plus i believe that the lower is coated so it should resist scratching.

I wasn't concerned about the Noveske plate scratching the lower. I was concerned about the QD swivel that mounts to the plate (angle under the buffer tube) causing scratches.

My Noveske N6 set up in 6.5 Grendel is not a combat beater rifle. It is set up as a precision, modular, deer killing machine :)

Does the KZ mount look like a quality unit up close? Is there any reason you would rather have another brand (as far as quality or features?

I am not as concerned with price as I am with form and function. My neighbor has the Troy mount and it is nothing special and does not have the third mounting hole. I just want to buy once.

I will be using this with a Larue sling (same as the Vickers or Vtack padded 2 point sling).

I have a Vtac handguard on the front and a Magpul CTR for a stock but I want the rear mount closer to the receiver than the CTR's built in mount.

Thanks,

David

I dont have any first hand experience with KZ products but I have and like the IKH SLAP a lot. I also have the Noveske QD. Check em out if you dont need multiple attachment points.

I don't know. But I don't see how it would. If anything, maybe it'll scratch the buffer tube. Mine's on a N4 lower too but I don't care about scratches. It's just a tool imho.

The mount I have is different than what your are looking at. They actually don't have the one i have offered on the site anymore. I really don't have any specific insight on the particular mount you are looking at. I can only speak on the kz mount and sling I have, and I'm very pleased with them. At this point, I have no reason to swap them out. IMO, the mount you are looking at is a bit bulky for my taste while you can get other qd mounts that take up less space. I believe Daniel Defense offers a qd mount that swivels, which would eliminate the need for three qd attachment points. Good luck with it.

The KZ mount looks a lot like the TangoDown PR4. PR4 was made to take the "abuse" from a sling without stressing the castle nut and endplate. The TD is proven and won't interfere with the retractable stock or charging handle. I don't run it, but I know EAG Tactical is a big fan of it. Take a look: http://tangodown.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=40
