Are we allowed to buy used handguns that arent on the list? I believe it was on the list not too long ago but it is no longer on the list. It is out of state and is a law enforcement trade in.

Thanks guys.

Your question is jumbled so I don't really know what you are asking. But I know sigpro's are legal in ca

Sorry that its jarbled. I guess what Im trying to say is that I would like to buy a 2340 that is out of state. The gun is no longer on the DOJ's safe handgun list, so can I still bring it into the state seeing that it isnt on the list.

no. If it is out of state, you would have to have it shipped to a in state FFL, however, since it is not on the list, they would not be allowed to give it to you.

If you buy used within the state then it is legal to transfer to you. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I just checked the list and Sig Pros are still on the list, BUT, they changed the model numbers. Where they used to be SP2009 and SP2340, now they are all model sp2022 and comes in 3 different calibers.

SP2022 / Stainless Steel, Polymer Pistol 3.8" .357 Sig 7/27/06
SP2022 / Stainless Steel, Polymer Pistol 3.8" .40 S&W 7/27/06
SP2022 / Stainless Steel, Polymer Pistol 3.8" 9mm 7/27/06

Anyway.

so can I still get a model 2340 or do I have to get a 2022?

Technically you can't bring a 2340 into the state anymore, HOWEVER, IF I were an FFL, I might not know the difference between a 2340 and 2022 if they are otherwise identical....but of course, don't do anything illegal...

And by the way, when a gun is less than 500 bucks, it is unlikely that the savings of buying out of state will be worth it when you factor in shipping, transfer fees, etc. You might just want to buy a new one from a store.

Good point. I didnt know that the gun was in the 500 range. I guess I should have done my homework first. The gun I saw was 325 used but for an extra 200 it looks like I can get a brand new one with pitcanny rail.

I might just do that

325 would be a great price if it were local. But, from out of state, figure add in 25 shipping, and maybe about 50 for the fee (plus the 25 DROS, but you pay that in or out of state). So, that brings you alot closer to the price of a new one.

These used to go on sale at Turners last year for 399.00 regularly.

Where are you located? I have a 2340 in .357 sig if you want to shoot it. It is very close to the new 2022 series.

I don't think any FFL would have a problem telling the difference since the 2340 and the 2022 have that model number stamped in very large type on the slide.

so, then they are not otherwise identical and it would be a bad idea to try and transfer one.

I sure hope that they go on sale for 400 again at turners. That would be awesome.
