Does anybody have experience with Bipods attached via bayonet lug? Are they any good, brands to stay away from, etc? Thanks.

Ruin your POI, kind of counter-productive IMO.

Doesn't look very stable

I have a feather weight for my SKS, Made of polymer and it seems very stable. It was a very easy way to attach to a rifle without a sling stud, Just my 2 cents worth. Build changed directions and it's up for sale now, Cabela's is proud of them at 40 bucks

I would stay away from ALL bipods that attach via a bayonet lug.

Bipods that attach via bayonet lug or by clamping around the barrel will affect barrel harmonics and throw off your point of impact, sometimes significantly. The best option for mounting a bipod on an AR is to attach it to the handguard via an adapter or directly to the picatinny rail if equipped. Even better if the handguard is free floated to completely isolate the barrel from contact.

thats not too helpful if you dont state why

because it's attached to the barrel.

if you dont know...dont reply.

the bayonet bipod is pretty stable when attached. dont know about POI due to harmonic of the barrel. i didnt see any change.

Thanks for clarifying. I just saw it online and was curious. Otherwise an actualy bayonet would throw off harmonics just the same I'd think. And as it is... the bayonet lug is just there. haha.

You normally don't shoot with the bayonet attached though.
Bayonet is for really really close quarters battle...

Not a good idea

I was only speaking about the SKS, Which is far from a precision rifle. It is a cheap platform and the bayo mount is just for confort. I only used mine a few times, I definately would not recommend it on a precision rifle. Free float is the only way to go on the AR platform. My 10 is for long range the SKS is just cheap fun, I paid $99 bucks for it and shoot the crap out of it. It is accurate enough for plinking

They suck imo. My friend had one for his airsoft M4 and we stuck it on my AR at the range. It was terribly wobbly.

A bayonet is for stabbing people when you've run out of ammo. Who cares what POI shift it might cause?

what kind for rail do you have. do you have something that has picitanny rails on it cuz you could just use http://riflegear.com/p-234-yankee-hill-bipod-adapter.aspx that.

Attaching a bipod to a non free floating handguard would be just as bad as attaching it to the bayonet lug.

The bayonet lug is worse for two reasons.
The bayonet lug is further forward.
The bayonet lug mounts wiggle like crap.
