I was going to build a Grendel but after finding out how expensive and hard to get the rounds I decided to go with the AK round. That is cheapest and easiest to get ammo. It has double the knock down power as the .223. What do u guys think?

Not as accurate or flat-shooting from what I've seen but then again I've never shot a really highend rifle chambered in 7.62x39 ... maybe someone has shot the XCR in this caliber?

Not the most accurate, but if you don't need sub-MOA at 300 yards you can go for the x39

It Sub MOA at 300 Yards is fantastic. Sure beats the expensive 6.8 rounds or Grendel. I meant with 300 yards. Iron Sight...

I think that if you're saying you're seeing group sizes LESS than 3" at 300yds, that sorry, but I just have to call BS.

I think I'd like to know the meaning of "knock down power". How do you figure it out, and how do you know the 7.62 is 2x the knock-downer of the .223??

thanks

I shot my AR15 in 7.62x39 for the first time on Saturday and I loved it!!!! Not as accurate past 100 or so yards as the .223 because it is much slower and starts "falling". But for up to 100 yards, it can't be beat. And in a shtf situation, I want the bigger scarier round! :)

Go with 5.45 instead, just have a bottle of Windex with you and you'll be just fine ;)

5.45 is cheaper to shoot, but not as scary as the 7.62x39 round!

I've seen what 556 and 762 does to armor, i'll take the 7.62 X39 for my gun.

Yup. 7.62x39 Upper would be great for 100yds and in. That'd be a great hog gun in bush country.

Grendels are fantastic. You just have to be a reloader, like any other seeking high accuracy....

I just picked up 1,200 rounds of 7.62 x 39 for $199 (old ammo from the 80's). All other ammos might be better but 7.62 is cheap and available almost everywhere. This is important especially new laws limit online purchase...
