Read her college dissertation here: www.marktalk.com

Then please carefully wrap your guns, the government truck will pick them up shortly. Or,
get a shovel.

Asserting that she is "lamenting" socialism because she wrote a dissertation about the history of the Socialist Party in New York is like saying I lament the end of surrealism because I wrote my college dissertation about Antonin Artaud almost 20 years ago.

In all fairness, what I wrote in college is not what I believe in today.

I had some socialist teachers, I wrote about issues they liked.

I had a west point professor, I was more to the right with him.

Rubbing the right professor the right way taught me how to make it in the corporate world by replacing professor with supervisor. ;)

Well, I didn't read all of it. But I did completely read the intro and conclusion (which in a college thesis, is all you should have to read to get the gist of what the paper contains).

My Summary: Socialism in America had it's greatest opportunity for becoming a viable "3rd party" between the years of 1900 and 1920. It did not succeed, however, for two major reasons. The first being a major disagreement in ideology and tactics within the party which caused a rift and divided the party into two ineffective groups. The Second being America afforded an opportunity to support a true middle class without the need for worker equality, and thus, the party never gained much momentum.

She may have a personal view of firearm ownership, but it is not spelled out in this paper. If fact, there is only one mention of firearms in her paper, and actually I believe it to be very true. America has yet to really learn this lesson, which really shows why we're having a hard time getting Iraq and Afghanistan off and running as self sufficient countries.

We are told that we are in a war to make the world safe for democracy. What a hollow phrase! We cannot... force democracy upon hostile countries by force of arms. Democracy must come from within not from without, through the light of reason and not through the fire of guns.

+1 tomorrow I'm going to have to interpret what a marxist charles beard wrote about the formation of the constitution and the economic motivations behind it for my U.S Rev Course Final. do i believe what I'm writing? no, its really just a book report to me.

There are certainly big doubts, not just about her qualifications. She's not a good judge of character.

Elena Kagan on Obama:
He opened his mouth, he said a few words, and the place was mesmerized. You could have heard a pin drop. And in part that's because,ah, you know, the rockstar qualities he has, the eloquence, the magnetism, the great looks, the brilliance . . .

First of all, many people felt that way about Obama. She is hardly outside the norm for believing he is eloquent, magnetic and mesmerizing. Furthermore, what is lacking in her CV that makes her unfit for the position in your opinion?

An undergraduate senior thesis? (and its a thesis. Dissertations are what PhD candidates write) Either way, c'mon... I shudder to think I might ever be judged today based on what I wrote 30 years ago before I had ever held a real job or owned a home had a family or any of the rest of it. At 22 we were all idiots who think we know everything but really know nothing - and if you don't agree, wait a few years (trust me on this)

There need not be so much discussion of what her statements in the video mean, because it's completely obvious, and it's certainly relevant to gun owners. Obama definitely holds a position on firearms. These two seem to get along nicely.

I tried to listen to the VID...

I go on the old adage; 'keep you friends close, but keep your enemies closer'

So, I try to listen to this corapp so I know my enemy...!

However, at 01:13 and the ninth FREAKING time she said Barack Obama... I just had to :puke:

Whichever candidacy is put forth, we can be sure that person has been vetted by the plutocracy.

I don't think they'll be coming for the guns right away. Guns are last. They'll tax/inflate us to death, and go after total control of the food supply (via FDA, for the children!) before making the final government-cheese-for-guns offer.

College is about exploring and analyzing a variety of subjects and viewpoints. You don't (and arguably shouldn't) agree with everything/everyone you're studying.

If the only thing you read, and the only subjects you wrote about, where things in which you already believed to be true - you would learn very little.

That said - I don't much care about a college thesis. If you show me a document she wrote a year ago stating the government should be overthrown and replaced with a Stalin-esq dictatorship, then i'm all ears. If the best you have is her talking about Obama and some writing in college - that doesn't say much.
