I am looking for a new rifle and I am really fond of the sleek and straight look of the Barrett model 99 rifle. But feeding the rifle $406 for 80 rounds of .416 Barrett everytime I shoot is worthy but not really economical for me. Are there any similar looking single shot bolt action rifle in a .308 or .30-06 cartridge?

If not, then, I will just settle on my FNH SPR. :o

AR-30 may be sort of what you're looking for, though it's not a bullpup and not a single-shot. It can be had in .308, .300 Win-Mag or .338 Lapua. I'd go with the Win-Mag myself, it is versatile and affordable to shoot (as long range cartridges go)

Look at a Viper in 510 DTC:

A BGA Viper will out shot a Barrett any day. Also, BGA is a bunch of great people! I've spent a lot of time talking with some of them at SHOT shows. They aim to please the little guy whereas, Barrett is more focused on larger military/LE contracts.

Or, you could go with a LAR Grizzly if they will chamber it in DTC for you:

They are OK rock busters but, they don't shoot as well as a Viper. I almost bought one once but, I didn't like the fact that the FCG was welded in place. I ended up with an AR50 instead.
