My dad wants one, where would be the best place to buy one brand new. No gun broker etc. Thanks for any help.

They're totally legal in Ca and every gunstore here in LA has at least pone. Call you closest gunstore.

Turner's Outdoorsman just had a sale on Springfield Armory Scouts, Socoms, and the standard "loaded" model for 1699.98. I waited until the last day of the sale (Apr 22) to order mine and went down today to check my order status. "No ETA for now, check back later", I was told. I've been checking the inventories of gundealers online and I'm not seeing alot M1A's out there locally right now. There doesn't seem to be much of a shortage of California legal M1A's on Gunbroker, but if you don't want to purchase from there, well happy hunting. :)

They're pretty common, even the guys who don't deal in EBR's usually stock them. Call around.

You could keep your eyes peeled on the "for sale" section of this site, they pop up periodically and you could get a good deal. Some sellers are willing to ship to an FFL.

I was looking for an M1A for quite a while before I found mine, although I wanted the standard, rather than the scout which I've seen more commonly stocked.

I have been searching for a scout in synthetic for some time now.......... In some respects I'm glad I haven't found one seeing as how my bank account would be mad at me.

This is an example of what I've been finding online. A search for "Springfield M1A" returns 37 different variants of which 3 are in stock and 34 are out of stock. I'm wondering if the Springfield Armory is having a tough time keeping up with demand. :(

Their website also says they won't ship semi auto center fire rifles to CA.

If you're looking for one that is as close to GI as legally possible, here's one you might be interested in:

Check out #3 in the link below. That's an outstanding deal. I've never dealt with this seller, but all I have heard is good about him.

I found exactly the M1A Scout I wanted on GunBroker, and called the store directly. They sold it to me. Great price, no tax, free shipping, and no credit card fees. I saved several hundred dollars.
It's worth a look.

Yeah I was already talking to the guy on here, in that link. I was checking out gun Broker but was just curious, can't buy anything any time soon, just wanted a general idea of where was the best place.
