Finished my ar-15 lower build. Not too bad.
I would really like to finish the upper with top grade parts.
With this in mind, economically, its more feasible to for me to do it
in steps (construct it myself).
Compared to putting together the lower asssembly, is the
upper assembly alot harder?
Or is it completely out of the question (fugeddaboutit..just
buy a complete upper)?

If you have the proper tools putting an upper togther isn't that hard. Check out http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/lid=11008/learn/ for the videos on how to do it.

Good luck,

Not hard at all

Bolt carrier group
Forward assist
Charging handle
Barrel Assembly (Barrel, Front Sight/Gas Block, Gas Tube, hand guards, Pin)
Ejection Port Dust Cover
Rear Sight/Scope

Thats about it for a basic setup. Just gotta research on what you will suit you best for your money.

I'd just buy a complete upper. I am lazy and impatient though ;)

I would just buy a complete upper. I don't mind putting lowers together ( thats really easy)
but I dont have the tools for the upper and since i dont plan on becoming a gunsmith I dont feel the need for them either

It's cheaper to buy a complete upper.

It's more fun to build your own upper.

my experience is that its not cheaper to build the upper. At least not an upper that you want.

I'm saying the same thing.

It's cheaper to buy a complete upper.

Building your own is more expensive, but also more fun.

My bad... I meant its not cheaper to BUY.

Besides, building helps you learn so much more about your weapon. If I bought everything assembled it might take forever to actually see how things all work together.

I have only built 2 complete uppers they are almost as easy as the lowers if you have the tools. If you want something that is one of a kind this is the way to go. I agree with everyone else it is cheaper to buy one complete but it is fun and interesting to build your own.
