I see so many FDE ones where they look almost two tone , are those conisdering the blemished ones? I see so many that look perfect but the lower is a totally different shade from the offer? Anyone that knows about this please inform me, I may be picking one up if I find a good deal at the show this weekend and am stuck on getting the black one which always looks good or the FDE which I kinda love the idea of but don't want a two tone rifle...

chime in please!

A lot of the times matched color guns (or anything) appears mismatched in photos at the interface of the polymer and the metal. They have different reflective properties so they look different. If you could parkerize polymer or paint both receivers with a thick enough layer that all you see is the paint's reflectivity then it'd all look the same.

So your saying in person they usually look the same? It's just the photos??

It's more pronounced in photos. I mean, you can usually tell when something is plastic or something is extruded aluminum, which is exactly what is going on. Ultimately though, you'll know best if it's worth it when you see it in person. Sorry I can't help much beyond that but it's always the case that you need to see it for yourself to make an accurate decision.

The SCARs do have a little bit of a two-tone effect, but as phamkl said it is because of the difference in material. The Black ones are a little closer, but the FDE are still pretty similar.

They look pretty two-tone in person, it's not a bad look though.

I really like the SCAR.. It shoots well, it’s light and it’s well balanced rifle..

The only reason I haven’t gotten the SCAR yet is because you cant get parts for it.. NO barrels, no gas block stuff, nothing.. Or at least that’s my understanding…

Best of luck to your sir and if you get it Please post pics and range report..

Thanks

My SCAR is 5 tone. The receiver, lower, pistol grip, stock, and painted mag each have their own color. Everything except the lower is close to FDE. The lower is more of a chocolate color.

Personally I love my 5-tone FDE SCAR. I prefer it over the black. I've got more than 20 other rifles that are all black. The FDE SCAR just looks so different. The black SCAR looks too much like everything else. But that's just me.

In the event you want to temp pin the stock we have the solution. Let us know if you need one.

This is the solution we came up with and works great! Remove the stock push pin and then insert our block put a penny in so when you tighten the block you won't risk damaging the stock. As you can see this takes less than 60 seconds so if you ever want or have the need to return to a folder you can do so and your SCAR will not suffer any damage. If anyone wants one let me know, we have the same design for SIG folders.

We have a blem Tan SCAR in stock. I will make you a deal on it. It has the new Raddlock that does not disable the Ambi-Mag release to the point where you have to replace parts to convert it back. We also have the exclusive on the Raddlock.

Here's my old SCAR. As you can see, it's def multi tone. The pro is that it can be used in the desert, jungle, woods, urban, etc and it blends into any surroundings. :D. The negative is that it looks ugly. I ended up selling it to another CalGunner and went with the black SCAR instead. The black SCAR is all one color. Black.

I'd still get a SCAR over the ACR. Funny how everyone wants a FDE Rifle and then the SCAR comes out and then everyone wants it in Black  I'll take a multi-tone FDE SCAR please :D

Blemished FDE Scar's are garbage IMO. If your gonna pay top dollar for a 5 tone, your wasting your $$.
