If you want a true M2HB, Tom at KMP has one left at $8k. All the others that I have seen available currently are M3s.

Is this BMG or DTC?
California legal BMG M2HB w/ QCB. DTC is not required since it's not a "rifle".
Anyone can buy one (with a big enough credit line!)

Just the gun will set you back about $8k for a ready to shoot, pure M2HB. M3s can be had for less ($6-7k). Expect to spend a bunch more on accessories and reloading gear.
The M2 is probably a better investment long term since there are not many M2 kits remaining. M3s are everywhere.

Funny that it was from Wisonsin.. Lived there for 14 years.
I will always remember one of my first deer hunting experiences there. A couple guys were four wheelin in the snow with a 50 mounted on the back of a flat bed truck.. No kidding... They drove by waving and wished me luck.
God knows what they were doing... I think they were deer hunting.. with a vehicle mounted 50 cal.
Then again, its Wisconsin.

You can read all about .50 Brownings here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M2_Browning_machine_gun
My understanding is that the M3 is basically an improved M2 with better structural reinforcement that allowed higher rates of fire in aircraft application. They are also slightly lighter.

Other than the bad color matching of parts from different suppliers, the intentionally missing cotter pin from the black castle nut, the intentionally loose silver nut, the fact that there is no round in the feedway in this shot and the fact that I may have to remove the cotter pinned rod on the link exit side of the gun to get them to fall smoothly down the chute, care to elaborate, because I really don't know what you see wrong. Thankfully, I do reload. Around $2 per round with Lehigh solid brass projectiles for our restrictive ranges here. About $1.50 loaded with standard M33 ball for desert shoots. For those that don't reload, this is the cheapest BMG ammo available that I am aware of assuming you buy 100+ rounds:

The gun as pictured weighs in at right about 200 lbs. I'm sure that there are other weapons with bigger bores since California's destructive device regs apply at bores over .60". There are black powder cannons that are much more hefty and are legal here. If only 20mm were legal to own in the PRK.....
See the post immediately above yours for cost per round.

Wow! That's definitely on my "to buy" list.
Are there any external differences between the M2 and M3?
EBR Works
05-15-2010, 12:46 PM
Most differences are internal with the M3 being much beefier for higher rates of fire required for aircraft engagements. M3s don't come with iron sights so several aftermarket solutions were created. The M2HB is just more "traditional" and probably a better investment at this point in time since the supply of demiled kits for building them is drying up.
