Cabela's has great pricing on PMC Bronze 223. Is there any reason I should not shoot this thru a brand new AR (5.56)?

No reason at all. I've shot plenty of PMC--most ranges in my area don't allow bi-metal (anything that attracts a magnet), and PMC is usually the cheapest non-magnetic ammo I can find. I have never had an issue with function in my AR's.

I have put about 2000 rounds of PMC through my AR-15, not one problem...

Check out palmetto state armory, they are a little cheaper than Cabelas, comes to 34.1c per round

I've used it with zero problems!

Cheaper Than Dirt has it for the best price I've found.

PMC is my favorite plinking ammo for sure!

Great range ammo, and the brass is great for reloading too! It's a win-win!

PMC (as long as you can get a good deal- I've bought a case of 1k for about 305 with shipping) is a great round for plinking. Consistency isn't there for target however.

The PMC Bronze 55 grain surprises me. My AR15 has shot this stuff, with surprising regularity, 5 shot groups under .75" at 100 yards, and and a couple of times, 1/2" or less. It has also has shot about a 2.75" group at 300 yards into a stiff headwind. This was off a bipod. BlackHills ammo did little better. MY AR seems to rather like the PMC stuff. Yours may or may not.

I am using a 22" long 1:9" twist barrel.

For what its worth... Cabelas current price while good isn't mind blowing:

I have purchased 1000 rounds this year (exact same ammo) from LAX range for 320 out the door (join their mailing list). Which blows cabelas and sgc out of the water by 3 cents a round.

So don't feel you need to rush and buy! This deal isn't then end all be all!

That's Cabela's bulk pricing with the so-called free storage bin. You're actually paying for the bin, it's not totally free. They are available at $6.49 per box:

I've never had a problem with PMC in .380, .45, .223 & .308. In fact, last time at the range, a guy next to me had a M1 converted to .308. He had lots of surplus stuff that would not cycle in his gun, but both my Win & PMC cycled his action perfectly...

+1 on all of the above. PMC is fairly cheap and cycles with no problem on my AR

My BCM loves PMC. I just bought a 1000 rounds at the San Francisco Gun Show for $299+tax.

I've put around 300 rounds of pmc through my sabre defense upper, no problems yet, except a first round hiccup, ever since then nothing.

That stuff is good to go. For fun after tactical distance practice, I use this stuff in my ACOG topped 20" AR. This ammo is consistent enough to put every round into a silhouette at 500 yards. At 600 yards you can definitely hit the silhouette but you'll only be able to put it in the black about 80% of the time. Granted yes, a silhouette is kind of a large target but for plinking at distance this stuff is really nice.

PMC Bronze is great ammo. Very accurate. Saw a guy shooting 8" plates at 300yds with a 18" JP upper hit them every time. I was using American Eagle, have now switched to the PMC for my match ammo out to 150 yds.

While it is reliable, soft shoot ammo... It's hardly "match" ammo. But then again at 150 yards I guess it isn't too bad for target usage.

I should of said "my short range ammo at major matches", USPSA 3 Gun Nationals, NCPS 3 gun, Ca. 3 gun series, SMM3G, Bay Area Rifle Championship.
My long range is Black Hills 77 Gr. Match ammo.

What are guys paying for Lake City XM193 55 gr. ammo? I'm trying to work a group buy from a dealer I know that over allocated on his order. I need to do 50 cases/500 per case, I'm thinking this will have to be a local pickup out of SF Bay Area as I need to have it shipped here via freight. Let me know what you guys think is a Fair Price and what is a "Deal" and I'll see if I can negotiate a deal with this guy. I need to make sure it’s worth my time to order volume and still be able to pass on a great price to members, let me know what you guys think.

I don’t want to dig a hole for myself as I’m not sure how much freight is going to be, so don’t hold me to these quotes. The ammo is Federal Lake City XM193 55gr. Packaged in 20 round boxes. This would be 3-4 weeks out, prices would be all in price and you have to pick up out of Hayward.

200 Rounds $90
500 Rounds $205
1,000 Rounds $400

For a comparison: www.surplusammo.com has XM193 for $195 + shipping per 500

Oh, and PMC Bronze is good to go, looking at 3 boxes that will help zero the new EOTech.
