If you haven't heard of it, it is the greatest thing ever.
http://www.filehippo.com/download_vlc/

It is via filehippo.com VLC media player and it plays videos from my digital cameras and just about any file.

I prefer the player in the K-Lite package: http://www.codecguide.com/

agreed VLC is the bomb. Only other media player I find my self using is Windows Media Center in Win7, I like to open a video (netflix) in the bottom corner of my computer while doing other work, this works perfect for it. Oh and iTunes but mainly to sync my ipod.

+1 for mplayer. The shell version is so convenient with tons of options and no fluff.

You should post an official link to VLC if you're going to suggest it.

Yep. Official. I wouldn't grab anything from filehippo, especially freeware with an official site ;)

Yep I have to agree VLC is probably the best one out there. I have not come across a file where VLC was not able to play it.

I give KM Player my second choice as best all around video player. http://www.freewarefiles.com/KMPlayer_program_22479.html. I'd post the original site but it's in Korean.

That's because VLC has all the codecs compiled into the binary, no need to grab codec packs.

Been using VLC for so long everything else is starting to catch up.

Media player classic + k lite was the old standby then VLC made a great package. Now WMP works just fine for 99% of the stuff out there.

CCCP codec pack is a good one if you have had problems with k-lite.

That's because WMP downloads missing codecs when you open media now.
