I just found out that the slide on my gen 2 g22 has a crack in the slide in the left rear.
Has anyone ever sent a cracked slide in to glock for repair? The armorer at the GSSF shoot that found the crack in the slide did not know what glocks policy was for cracked slides.

Never heard of that happening. Pics would be great. Give Glock a call. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to work with you.

Round count?

Wow, 25k! That's pretty impressive, but should be well within the service life of the slide. I guess 25k is enough to find out if you've got metallurgy problems though!

Do you handload or are you shooting factory ammo?

Yeah I've seen it when it happened to my service weapon... I was running .40 cal Hornady Tap through her and she cracked after what I think was 40-50K rounds.

I called glock sent the slide back and they sent me a new one no problem.

Some what odd that the Glock armorer didn't know Glock Inc. policy concerning cracked slides.

I thought that was funny also. He is the full time LE rep for the western states.

99% hand loads. Shooting the number of rounds I shoot hand loading is the only option.

I'd ask on Glock Talk.

Crap I just called Glock and they said that someone must have dropped the gun to have a crack on that part of the slide so it is not covered under warranty. I must ship back my old slide and pay $180 for a new slide. Carp that is almost 1/2 the cost of a new glock.

Contact Glock. They have fantastic customer service. The second gen G17 that my FIL has had for nearly 15 years was completely rebuilt, free of charge, when he sent it in for an issue related to brass being thrown back directly at the shooter. They replaced every part with the exception of the polymer frame.

I have seen the glock armorer at a GSSF match and called glock who told me that the gun must have been dropped with the slide pulled back. Funny they know that is the only way for the frame to crack in that location over the phone. They want to charge me $180 for the slide and i am just not sure that is worth it on a $330 gun. If I did not have so many perban hicaps for the 40 cal glocks I would give up on them over this. This really seems like a factory defect to me.
Oh well order a g22 and take my spare 24c slide and put it on the old g22 frame.

I'm betting that Glock will replace the slide for free, or a nominal charge.

If it wasn't caused by a hot reload, and was caused by normal wear and tear, my guess is Glock will fix or replace it for free. They has first class costumer care. You could get the answer in a matter of minutes if you post this on glocktalk.

This whole thing is quite impossible. Everyone knows that Glocks have never, nor ever will, approach anything resembling any type of failure.

One of my buddies was shooting not properly made/sized bullets out of his glock and a bullet was lodged inside the barrel without him being aware of it. He shot again and the whole slide flew off. He picked up the pieces, bent the frame back to normal, and in the end the gun was shooting fine the next time out.

Did you drop it? If you did, there would be a mark where the slide hit concrete or whatever.

Based on your picture I would say if the slide had any metallurgical defects it might also crack in the same spot from the pressure of the 2500 or so magazines you've pushed in (assuming 10 rd magazines).

Glock should replace this free of charge since they can't prove it.
