I was at Wild Sports checking out the M&Ps. Good deals between $469-$499! But I see only the full size .45 has a thumb safety. Is there anyway I can get a M&P40 compact with the thumb safety feature?

the 45 is the only CA approved M&P that was submitted with a safety so you cannot legally get one unless you are Law enforcement. You could however buy one from an LEO and have it registered to you or could buy one out of state and bring it back with you and register it to your name in ca. There may be another loop hole like inter family transfer that others may chime in on, but i know these are definite ways. I too want the fullsize 40 with thumb safety so i feel your pain.

When you add in the current $50 rebate ( or two extra mags ) that's one heck of a deal!

The M&P .45 with the thumb safety feels very nice in the hand, but it is big. It is too bad we can't buy the .40 and 9mm models in CA.

How about the dealers that ship to CA? Would I be able to get one with the thumb safety & difference would just be the 10 round mags instead?

Not at this time as the 9/40 with safety are not on the DOJ roster.
