So what's your SHTF gun? What would you grab if the chips were down and the fecal matter was hitting the oscillating blades?

Pics if possible...one can never OD on gun porn!

1. Oh crap, zombies!
2. Grab Para P-14 to cover myself as I open the gun safe.
3. Pop the SU-16CA out of the safe, remove mag from stock, insert mag in rifle.
4. Sling M590 over shoulder.
5. If conditions permit, sit down with tools to remove 22LR upper off of drop-mag AR and swap Armalite match upper and mag from SU-16 onto it. Once my Stag upper is back from getting worked on, I'd be swapping over to that one.

So, it all depends on how much notice I have and assumes I'm at home. If I have a good 10 minutes, I'd be using a drop-mag AR with two USGI mags full of Nosler ballistic tips. If I have 1 minute, I'll have an SU-16CA with the same two mags. If I have 15 seconds, I'll have a 45.

It has an ASP tactical sling, I have 6 mags loaded with Winchester Q3131A (Israeli) in a tac vest.

BUG would be my Kimber II TLE or the Mossberg 590A1. Possibly both.

My SHTF gun is my rem. 700. It's not a semi auto, but 308 ammo's cheap enough to always have extra on hand, and I can hit anything I want to hit within a quarter mile, on the first shot. Backup would be either my neutered Ameetec (poss. deneutered in this kind of situation (?)), or the M-1 carbine i'm getting this weekend.

At the moment, my Sig P220, Mossberg 12 gauge... And if a long gun is needed... I'd have to resort for now to the Mini-14 due to the fact that it has detachable 10 rounders.

Would love to use the Carbon 15, but it's a top loader so the fan would be getting plugged up with poo if I tried to use it. ;)

It's a custom made 50 bmg pistol/carbine. You can change the barrel and add a stock if you wanted to.

I don't own one and would be a little scared of shooting it myself. But it's nice to look at.

Taken from the DOJ site............note: only specifies Semiauto.

Shotguns
(6) A semiautomatic shotgun that has both of the following:
(A) A folding or telescoping stock.
(B) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon, thumbhole stock, or
vertical handgrip.
(7) A semiautomatic shotgun that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine.
(8) Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.

it's legal since it is a pump (not a semi). With pump guns, YOU CAN DO ANYTHING you want with them as long as the barrel is at least 18 inches.

It is the knoxx system and I get some crazy looks at the range with that thing since it also has a forward grip. Only downside is that it's heavy with all the accessories but this does reduce the recoil.

No, a revolving cylinder would cycle through the receiver like a revolver. However, a drum magazine does not ... but rather just feeds it.

Dunno, maybe I'm wrong. Can someone chime in ?

The drum does not revolve.

That section was mainly in reference to shotguns such as the Striker or the Street Sweeper.

Does it have to be CA legal?

If not, this might come in handy:

"The Auto Assault 12 is a very-low-recoil shotgun. It fires 2.75-inch shells at a rate of five per second from either a 20-round drum or an eight-round magazine. Made of aircraft-grade stainless steel, the AA-12 rarely (if ever) needs lubricating or cleaning."

Also for the bigger s**T hitting the fan, this might be useful:

I have the knoxx SpecOps on my winchester 1300, it works as well as advertised. Zero complaints here. I've also tried the Copstock they have on a Mossberg 500, I didn't like that one as much as mine. The folding wire stock dug into my shoulder more than the telescoping AR style stock on mine.

When I first got mine I tried alot of different magnum and 3" shells to see if I could prove them wrong, but it kept on soaking up all the recoil every time.

It is especially great on quick follow up shots and staying on target.

Plus extended trap shooting sessions are a breeze, we keep looking around for more ammo when we're done.

Oh yeah, when TSHTF, I'll be reaching for my FAL with the 1300 close by. S & W 4006 on my hip and some milsurps to hand out to friends/family.

Correct. I've thought over the Knoxx thing from time to time for the last few years, and while it's absolutely cool and useful in a short shotgun, I'd rather not do it with my M590.

With a shell holder on a shotgun, you have the option of loading different types of shells into the tube mag of a standard shotgun. You can also 'top off' the shotgun without being vulnerable while removing the drum or box mag.

I keep mag-disc (SUPPOSEDLY highly frangible) ammo loaded as the first four rounds in the tube of my M590, and 00 buckshot for the last two. In the shell holder I have two slugs and three shells of 00 buckshot.

The Knoxx system has a lot going for it, and for short configurations I'd really think hard about it. But it does have some drawbacks to installing on a shotgun where it's not buying you much additional capacity.

One of these days, I'll buy a minimum-legal-length Mossberg 500 for the express purpose of turning it into a Knoxx-based shotgun. Until then, I'm not too excitable about it.

In my opinion there are really 2 SHTF situations.

1. Nazi stormtroopers falling from the sky.
Weapon: Any accurate semi-auto Battlerifle in a caliber similar to .308.
Preferrably with good long range optics.

2. Katrina/Natural Disaster/Chaos/Pack up what you can carry and get the hell out of Dodge situation.
Weapon: Light semi-auto in caliber similar to .223 that you can carry a
$h!~load of ammo for. Ar platform would be close to ideal. AK would
probably be OK too.

I'd post pics but the FAL isn't finished and the AR is nothing special. Just a run of the mill M4gery waiting to be de-neutered.

I pick the .45 and 870 for home defense.

The AR might have some more standing if it wasn't adulterated. When taking into consideration that the "fixed mag" doesn't quite have any legal standing yet, I would be very cautious as to using it. I wouldn't want to be in the headlines with "Man convicted of Assault Weapons charges after killing a home intruder"!!!

Ain't that the truth, but we all know the "media" in the PRK, even with a fixed mag you'd be labled the same way. Now I'd have to probably chose the double barrel 12 gauge, because the Imbel/FAL with that 308 might go threw my wall and kill granny down the street, and the AR is soooooo most fun to shoot I'd probably be laughing during the whole ordeal......

But since we're talking zombies, I might break out the samuri swords, since we all know you have to remove the head, and using a shot gun would mean I'd have to repaint the walls, and I hate painting, with a sword I'd just need to mop the hardwood floors....:D

I'm guessing it's mrp rifle length rail with a 14.5 barrel and a phantom to make it 16.1" OAL.

Very nice thinking of cutting my barrel down to 14.5 and permanently affixing the phantom.
