I ran across an odd 1911 clone on consignment today, but I haven't had much luck researching it. It's an IAI (AMT) 1911 clone with the compact frame, but full length barrel/slide and chambered in .40s&w. Every search I've done for IAI comes back to Israeli Arms, not Irwindale Arms. As I understand it, Irwindale Arms took over for AMT for a short time. Can anyone shed some light on these things?? I've read that AMT's quality could be spotty and that aftermarket 1911 parts can take some fitting to get them to work right, but it's an interesting little gun.
