One calgunner on here did the ak on his back on his bicycle to the range... Last year. Decent thread on it. I believe in the leo forum search bicycle there. Sjgunguy24 handle. Nice and interesting guy to be sure.

As long as it is unloaded and you do not drive through a school zone, it's legal to transport a long gun that way.

Locked soft case is the best way to transport it on a bike.

On a bicycle, broke down and carried in a backpack is more comfortable.
Watch for school zones tho.

Soft case, locked.
However if I was gonna let it hang it'd be on a single point in front. :43:

My car is currently under repair, and I was thinking about slinging my 91/30 Mosin Nagant on my back, bayonet too, and going down to the range, haha.
But that thing is about 6 feet long that way, might be a bit awkward...

Just don't do what's in my avatar...

A soft case over your back while riding is best.
Just be ready to get stopped by a LEO if they see you. BTDT. Huge thread on here about it. Although, I was carrying my pistol too. Got just as much brow beating for the rifle. Cops don't like us mere citizens having guns in public.

I used to carry two rifles in a case all the time, it was a readily identifiable soft gun case- never had a problem going from SF to Jackson Arms

I mentioned before in other threads, an electric guitar or bass "gig bag" will hold a rifle and is much more discreet.

I use this. Notice the repositionable backpack straps. I've seen CHP with these on their back, so it's not just me who is crazy.
from another motorcycle gun thread.

Just don't pull a "Delonte West" and you should be okay..
West was riding a Can-Am Spyder motorcycle north on the Capital Beltway in Upper Marlboro when he cut off an officer, who pulled him over.
Police said a handgun was found in his pocket, another in his pant leg and a shotgun in a guitar case strapped to his back.

I've done it before a Jansport bag will comfortably hold an ar15 in 2 pieces with a small lock box for ammo.
The Axio hardcase is a good way with the right setup
IMO there is no need to attract attention with rifle cases if you can help it - the guitar cases work very well too.
