You should build the sten in 7.62x25. If you cant.....I GUESS the PSL. Which are you leaning more towards?

I heard somewhere that most stens would still be illegal in Ca due to them firing from an open bolt. Is this true or is there a way to do it legal? My 10 year old has a Winchester 55 singleshot 22 that fires from an openbolt & would think that it isn't a problem, but who knows?

home built has this special appeal of knowing that you made it. that said make the psl with the help of an ak build party, and hope that the sten build party takes off the ground.

Or just buy the psl since you can just buy that.

OP, talk about two opposites. One is a small, lightweight, pistol caliber rifle and the other is essentially an AK wanna be SVD. I say Sten simply because it is cheaper to buy or build, lighter, mags are more plentiful and cheaper and the rifle is featureless.

I heard somewhere that most stens would still be illegal in Ca due to them firing from an open bolt. Is this true or is there a way to do it legal?

Open bolts built before 1986 are grandfathered, any built afterwards are pretty much considered machine guns by the ATF. Sten Semiauto closed bolt bolts can be had. I think PRK Arms in Fresno had some grandfathered open bolt Mac pistols.
