Even if that house or building is non-occupied, make sure you know the Ca law before. If I remember correctly, Penal code 246 prohibits you to shoot at inhabited building. And Penal code 247 prohibits you to shoot at unhabited building. Also, there's another that I forgot that prohibits to shoot within a certain distance where other people camp or live.

Yup, here's 246 and 247
I'm still looking for the penal code regarding discharging within proximity of people.

http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/cacode/PEN/3/1/8/9/s246
Any person who shall maliciously and willfully discharge a firearm at an inhabited dwelling house, occupied building, occupied motor vehicle, occupied aircraft, inhabited housecar, as defined in Section 362 of the Vehicle Code, or inhabited camper, as defined in Section 243 of the Vehicle Code, is guilty of a felony, and upon conviction shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for three, five, or seven years, or by imprisonment in the county jail for a term of not less than six months and not exceeding one year.

As used in this section, "inhabited" means currently being used for dwelling purposes, whether occupied or not.
http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/cacode/PEN/3/1/8/9/s247

(b)Any person who discharges a firearm at an unoccupied motor vehicle or an uninhabited building or dwelling house is guilty of a public offense punishable by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than one year or in the state prison. This subdivision does not apply to shooting at an abandoned vehicle, unoccupied vehicle, uninhabited building, or dwelling house with the permission of the owner.

I highly doubt he was shooting at his neighbors house, I think he was just taking pictures of the gun and pics through the scope

Well, when you take a picture with the scope aiming out to the field, and then you mention asking the building's owner for some kinds of training, it can make other people think that you're looking into shooting training around that area. Just a friendly caution, and no biggie. :) I re-read your training thread, and it's about the training for the guard dog. LOL.

Nice rifle! I'm sure it'll look great when it's all done. I like the FDE doberman too :D

Another guy on here, "skkeeter", posted this pic when I asked about what model Rem 700 to buy.
700 LTR. it's essentially the same as an SPS, but a bit lighter with a fluted barrel and lighter stock. It does cost a few hundred extra though.

Absolutely beautiful. I plan on doing something similar when I get my LTR (not too similar though.....gotta keep it original!!!)
