This was news to me, so I figured I'd share with others. Looks nice and modular, but I don't know that it offers much (or anything) over other monolithic uppers. It's always nice to have options though.

You can get it in "kit" form straight from Aramalite for $540 (http://www.armalite.com/ItemForm.aspx?item=15003063).

I'd rather have the Mega Machine Shop monolithic rail, which costs roughly the same.

Here's another image from Armalite's site.

Given your name avatar, I would think you would prefer the LMT MRP! ...but yeah, I prefer the look of the Mega over the Armalite... Though I still don't understand why they didn't integrate QD sling mounts into the darn thing... :(

what's with the spaceship look of the armalite? pass, i'll stick with the LMT MRP. the armalite looks like it's going really fast standing still though.

The LMT MRP had QD swivels from day 1. Not to mention quick change barrels and gas-pistons as an option. Game Over.

from day 1, does that mean all progress has ceased ?

Quick change barrels too? like two take down pins and a mag swap quick ? lol

The armalite setup is cool for rifle builders especially and works pretty well for that. It's market cost but I do like the Mega design better as it's less screws and parts.

I agree that the LMT MRP is an excellent platform.

The only thing the Mega has over it is the use of any standard barrel. That way, you can build a rifle using almost any caliber (instead of only the ones offered by LMT or an aftermarket maker). I plan on building a 6.5 Grendel (or something very similar) using a Mega Monolithic upper one day.

Currently, the only caliber available that I know of for the LMT are:
- .223/5.56
- 6.8 SPC
- .22LR
- .204 Ruger

actually (not to be a smart ***) but the earliest version of the MRP did not have QD swivels. BUT LMT is smart enough to have quickly updated it to include them.

But you can't mount an M203 on the barrel with that rail. ;)

Spike's Tactical makes a 9mm conversion.
