I am thinking about getting an AR for some target shooting using open sights.

I would like to buy a complette rifle.
Any ideas? Just want a nice 20 inch H-Bar with STD sigths and A2 stock that shoots really well. Dont really wana go much more than a 1000.00 at this time.

Where would I start?

If it was just an upper, I'd say White Oak Armament Service Rifle upper.

For a complete rifle, consider the Rock River Arms National Match Service Rifle. A guy in our club has one and that thing shoots as good as my WOA.

I'd suggest you check out Sinclair for top quality iron sights - nothing beats (IMHO) an adjustable peep rear and globe front sight. I have the old style set up on a Rem 40X and some other older guns, my vision is still of the 20/15variety and I think it's a great set up.

There's a whole world out there of iron sights that most folks know nothing about, amazing what can be done with the correct set up.

I just saw a Bushmaster A2, 20" with BCG/CH target upper for $400 on AR15.com equipent exchange board. Toss in a Stag lower for $350...bam $800 AR15A2 with shipping included.

1:14 twist won't stabilize the heavier bullet for LR shooting will it? I would take that into account.
