View Full Version : Installing a Pachmayr grip

Hello all, I have some compact Pachmayr grips for my Ruger GP100. There is a noticable 1/8" gap where the grip seam is. Pachmayr directions state to use adhesive if needed...... - what kind of adhesive? This is a discontinued item and with my short fingers I like the way these grips feel, so I want to make them work.

I had a similar issue with Pach's on my Taurus 441. The easiest way to resolve it is to buy Hogue's. Hogue's just really seem to fit the gun better. I have them on my GP-100. I would advise against trying adhesive.

Pachmayr grips have dropped in fit and quality noticeably, to me anyway, over the past several years. You could try to do a bit of fitting by carefully trimming on the inside in the areas where it doesn't fit and then apply some good resin based adhesive to the panels where they come together. You'd need to hold them together at least overnight with some big rubber bands put tight over the grip once it's on.
Glueing would, in my mind, be something of a last resort.
