First of all I'm thrilled that I'm going to be a Dad for the first time. That means I need to put my new highly addictive gun hobby on hold for a bit. I will be buying 1 more gun from here til november, I can't decide.

I have only three since im kinda new
1. Springfield mil-spec 1911
2. Colt 22lr M4
3. H&R 922 22 revolver

I want:
pretty much any pistol or revolver $1000 or less. Im open to any suggestion.

IF YOU CAN ONLY BUY 1 GUN FOR A YEAR OR 2, WHAT WOULD YOU BUY? AND WHY?

#2 & 3 aren't even in the same league as #1.

Can the Dan Wessons still be found in the sub $1K range?

Do you want to stick with those calibers? Some prefer to consolidate calibers and some don't mind stocking a variety.

i would buy an older w german P series handgun; not needing any upgrades for it i would pick up some ammo with my "saved" money....

No, at least not brand new and they're even harder to find used.

Nope, maybe used.

It really depends on what kind of shooting your into. Right now, with the list of what you have I would buy these three:

Mossberg 500-Big 5 special. This can be used for hunting and clays.
Ruger MK III or Browning buckmark-Awesome plinking and Cheap trigger time.
Glock 19-I added this because it's probably going to be my next pistol and everyone should have a 9mm.

Pretty sure the OP is saying he already has the SA Milspec, the Colt 22lr M4, and the H&R 922 22 revolver. He wants another pistol or revolver under $1000.

thats what i did, and it works pretty good other then theres no slide lock wen guns empty and too many rounds in one sitting really foul up the barrel. was it worth it? yes, just wish they let people know this kit wont work with mag wells, and kimber came out with metal mags.

In the very near future, California liberal legislatures will allow only one gun per person, my choice will be a 1911.

Don't buy anything for now.

If you don't have a need to fill, and there's nothing that you want, why not hold on to your money? There's no sense in buying just for the sake of buying.

At some point you will come across something that you want... and you'll be happy that you have the cash to buy it.

I'd go with a 9mm automatic - Maybe a full size HK USP or P2000? Or if you want to try a more glock-style gun, then get a Springfield XD9 or SW M&P9 (hell, maybe even a Glock.) Those are all fun to shoot and quite a bit cheaper to shoot than a .45.

Man... If it gets that bleak, I'm plus one for a 1911.

That's all I ever want if it had to be the only one.

you have a 22 rifle and pistol, you have a fair defensive handgun.

seems like you're short a general hunting caliber rifle, a woods handgun, and a shotgun.

a bolty/semi .308?
maybe a glock 20 or ruger GP100?
a mossberg pump?

FNP - 9. Just thinking outside of the box.

What about those new .410 revolvers... pretty sweet if you ask me.
EDIT: It's a Taurus 4510.

If you already have guns in the larger calibers and they do what you want....

I would suggest that you get a Smith and Wesson K22 in either 6 or ten shot. You will have a gun that you will shoot and enjoy for the rest of your life.. far more than just another brass chucking 9mm safe queen that gets maybe a thousand rounds run through it in your lifetime.

I might also suggest you go the other way and get a 44 mag revolver.. If you don't reload it will be expensive but if you decide to take up reloading or know someone you trust who does.. you can shoot it for about the same as a 22 and it is by far the most useful handgun you could own. It will do just about anything from shot loads for snakes to 300 grain cast slugs for bear to plinking rounds at 900 fps.

Colt Single Action Army.

Something nice to look at at home since you're gonna be too busy or too tired to go to the range for awhile. ;)

Otherwise I think a good 9mm would be a much needed addtion. Glock, M&P, Beretta 92FS, SIG Sauer, H&K etc.

If you have $1K, you could do a Glock 19 for around $600 total and the Mossberg Big 5 'Combo' for around $300 total. This still leaves $100 in the budget for ammo or accessories.
OP already has a .22 and a 1911. The 9mm and the 12 gauge fill in a couple of 'holes' in his collection. Ammo for both can still be had for good prices.
Good luck.

That's a good budget :)

Try a Sig P226 or a CZ75 SP-01 or if you want to inject more fun, look for a MAC-type pistol like I did.
