I know the usual suspects where these can be found online.

Just wondering if anyone knows where you can get them in SoCal? Or is it still cheaper from your experience to pay shipping and buy it online than to pay sales tax and buy it in CA.

Thanks.

It is still usually cheaper to get them sent in from out of state. Peach state guns has them in the low $300s. The lowest I have seen them IRL in stores here is close to $500. They feel that they can gouge here because most people don't know any better.

I'm pretty sure Ammo Bro's stocks the Saiga's. Last time I saw them they were under $400, if I remember correctly.

Ammo Bros recently became an authorized dealer of Saigas. The manager told me now they are getting Saigas directly from the distributors, they will able to offer much better prices on them.

That's California for you. Although it sounds like some of the others have found good deals on them in their areas.

I concur. Cost of the Saiga + labor + conversion costs > $399. If you can provide a link or store contact information, I'll buy two tomorrow...seriously.

I had this talk awhile back it's not the conversion where they move the trigger, they add another stock and grip. i think it counts never the less.

You can get it almost around $400 with the new stock pistol grip bullet button and a SF mag, i thought it was a great deal when i found it. also if you search the siaga board there is a %5 off coupon you can use.

I didn't look at it off the shelf because my kid was being a pain in the ***. The Saigas I saw were wooden furniture, and had BB's installed. There was one with a pistol grip and the other one didn't have the pistol grip attached. They both had the trigger relocated. I asked him how much they were and he said it depended on the caliber, I said 7.62, he said $399. I could go back and ask to see them.

morfeeis, that's a start, but not a full conversion. Factory handguard (lower and upper) is still there, Saiga fire control group is still there, and I hate the TAPCO stock and Saw pistol grip (I like my AKs looking more traditional).

77bawls, if the shop really does have a fully converted Saiga with wood furniture, please let me know the shop's name. As I said, I'll be more than happy to pick some up at $399.

See that's funny I like that style much better as the ak styling turns me off, I'm not even sure what it is but the sight of an ak dressed in wood = Meh to me

as Atari stated please tell us the name of that shop, to get a 762 at that price would be heart stopping! I still want mine in 223.

River City Gun Exchange. I could be wrong as I only saw two of them sitting next to each other and they were both converted. He could have been talking about one that I didn't see.

Just an FYI, ammo bros prices are a little higher than the others, but they will price match or at least try to. One of the managers is a bit of a *****, but they make the effort and are Californian.

Are you sure it wasn't a Romanian WASR-10?
$399 is too cheap for a Saiga set up like that.

Do you always assume they know better before blacklisting them? Or do you actually talk to them to find out if they're actually gouging or not?

I have heard a few bad things about gun world some from people I really know and some from people online. I don't know what it is but I don't ever want to set foot in that place.

And if they aren't gouging and are paying that high of a price for their siagas then 1. I have no idea how they stay open 2. I'm not paying for their mistakes.

If they are gouging the CA siaga gun lovers that is very upsetting to hear, it's hard enough to get a real gun in this state without having to worry about your lgs trying to screw you.

But hey I could be way off base as I said I've nevere been to the place, they could be great.

$399 is not for a converted Saiga. The shop got back to me today. All Saigas sold by them are in the original configuration. They do not, and will not, do any conversions.

I call or walk in and ask, if they gouge, I black list and I tell others.
If others here report gouging and the retailer is far away then I just won't even bother contacting them.

I am guessing the "conversion" is the exchanging parts with USA made parts in order to run your pre-ban high cap magazines. That is a federal issue IIRC. Some one else on calguns maybe can chime in here...

it just converts it to a pistol grip and upgrades a few parts.

Sidewinder11.. I am in your same position as far as ready to buy a SAIGA. I have found a great online deal on a .223 or 7.62 shipped for $359. With dros and FFL fee about $420 total. I would ask cold war shooters about getting close to this price to keep purchase in cali but they only have them in the 16" and i want the 20" barrel for the .223.

CWS is closed. I checked their site. I also emailed them and they confirmed.

Anyone else in S. California "Inland Empire"? If not how does the online thing work? I assume the CA dealer wants a cut of the pie?
