I have an STG 556 coming in 5 days. For you MSAR owners: What optic or sights do you run and why? Or what would you recommend?

I have a Eotech XPS on mine. Its just a tad high so not the best cheek weld.

If I started all over I would run an Aimpoint with a low mount.

For now the Eotech still works good.

I have the factory 1.5 combat sights on it. It makes it looks like a "real" Styer AUG, and the sights are great for close in work.

Me too, for the same reason. The sight does sit a bit low though. I may upgrade to the higher one MSAR is now producing for their newest rifles.

Do you know if you can purchase that direct from MSAR?

I hope so. I really haven't looked into it. I'm neck deep in AK building right now.

Not to thread jack but you guys seem to be a good source for an answer.

What are the differences between the STG-556 and the STG-E4? I can see the E4 has various caliber options as well as use of standard magazines. Anything else I am missing?

That's pretty much it. Combining that magazine system (STANAG) with the MSAR's detachable barrel makes for a great quick caliber conversion platform.

Here she is, finally here (Thanks to TRIPLE A SPORTING GOODS for doing the transfer) I am still trying to figure out which Optics but I will probably go with a Vortex. Everything is very tightly fit together even the Raddlock Bulletbutton. I am assuming over range time everything will loosen up. Range report coming sometime this or next week.

Here is what RATWORKX added to make it CA Legal. The rifle is just a little bit over 31 inches. But it does not feel or look like it person.

If your still interested in the factory optic, I don't believe MSAR sells straight to the public anymore. You have to go through Ratworx, email them and ask. I think they sell it for $300.

MSAR doesn't make or sell optics anymore. If you want a factory MSAR optic you better find it and buy it soon.

The E4 has a newer texture on the stock and takes AR mags. The E4 factory optic (if you get one) is the correct Steyr AUG optic height. All of the factory optics on STG-556 rifles are slightly (and annoyingly) shorter.

Personally I think the E4 with factory optic looks cooler than just about every rifle out there. I know an Aimpoint would function slightly better, but I just don't like the look of third party optics on AUGs.
