Well I went window shopping today. Headed to Stockade and Field & Stream? on Beach. I was looking for the P250 or 229 .40 but after looking at several sigs I kinda felt comfortable with the P225. I know it's a single stack 8+1 9mm but since I have small hands, it was really nice to grip. Trigger pull on the DA was good. It appears that this is an old model and hard to find new, under $990. Any one have an idea where I could get this under the $800 mark. I would like to rent and fire it first but an what a nice piece of hardware :58:

i love my older w german sig P225; great fit, great shooter. it is advised not to load up higher pressure ammo, +P in a P225 as it may affect the reliability of the gun's chambering the next round. it has been said the higher pressure ammo moves the slide too fast which may cause a failure to feed. see m ayoob's book "the gun digest book of SIG-SAUER" for more specific information. for a defense round i use winchester silvertip 115 gr hp. federal 9bp hp is also a favorite round of the P225. i'm sharing this info with you in case the ammo matter is an issue for you. the factory magazines can be very difficult to find, and not cheap. Top Gun Supply on the internet has had them for awhile at what is considered to be a reasonable price. although i shoot best with my old P226 my P225 is actually the most comfortable for me in terms of ergonomics. Long live the P225....

turner's currently has a sale on the P239 at $659.98 and i saw a few in the pasadena store today. 9mm and .40 S&W are both on sale at same price; see turner's ad on internet. there are also some folks on this forum that sell sigs. hope this info is helpful and i couldn't tell you if the sale is a great deal, as i haven't been in the market for a new gun....

The P225 is an ergo champ pistol BUT check the D/A pull. IMO, it has the worst D/A pull in all P-series SIGs.

actually the trigger on the P225 is not bad at all imo; the P6 has the stiff trigger....

i should also add the trigger pull on the P6 is also gritty; not so with P225 examples i have owned and shot.

same here. the p225s that i have, have a good trigger. i have tried other people's p6s and have found the trigger to be gritty.

I actually handled the pistol today the OP is referring to. It was a refurbed P225, but the grip panels had some slight wear too. AND the P239 was sweet too!!!

Thanks. I just wanted to comment on that exact pistol. The whole thing CPO new looking. Just the grips had a slight wear mark on them.

Nice pistol, but I almost feel in love with that P239.

Holy crap, $900?!

Pick up a Zurich P225 trade-in from Turners (if they have any left). You can get the whole gun refinished, add new night sights and still be way under $900.

With the P6 and P225 trade ins flooding the market, it has dropped the prices of P225s quite significantly. Used in the CGN classifieds can probably get you one for $500-$600.

Black Majik is right, and the Zurich P225 is a piece of Sig history for sure....

Yeah, I'm going to the range this week to test both 225 9mm and 239 .40 S&W. My wife (bless her) want's to join in so she can see which one she likes and mentioned that I had better get the CT laser grips :43: "to help her aim" as well as all the attachments or extras that come for the gun. :notworthy:

there are also SWISS police P228s coming in FYI

Yeah the 228 is a nice gun but it has the same problem as the others... double stack mags. I have smaller hands and the double stacks are less comfortable... I may give the 229 a try but it felt thick in my hands. :(

I vote to find a P220 9mm, decide you don't like it, then sell it to me. :)

So, looking again at the P239 and while perusing the Sig website I see there is a P239 SAS Gen2. Can some one enlighten me on the differences between the 239 and 239 SAS Gen2?

The SAS models are "melted," meaning the edges are heavily dehorned/rounded.

So it's really the same pistol but for the rounding to make it a better conceal gun... I suppose the only reason why it is not on the approve list is it was not tested...
Thanks for the info.
