I have some old M1A/M14 20 round mags from a long time ago when my pops was still around. I've had them since he died in '97 so I'm sure they're legal. However, I am planning on buying a SOCOM and also building an M1A sometime in the near future. Would it be legal to use the 20 rounders on either of these rifles? Sorry if this has been answered a million times, but I did a search and was unsuccessful. Thank you.

Yes, they are legal to use on the SOCOM.

Have at it.

I use my old pre-ban 20 rounders in my SOCOM-16. They need repair badly too.

Wow, you guys are fast, thank you. The reason I asked is, many people were saying that converting an SKS to accept magazines is illegal, is it because of other evil feature's of the SKS?

That's because the SKS W/ detachable mags is listed by name on the R/R list.

So don't mess with the SKS and have fun with your M1A's with the 20 rd mags!

The rebuild kits can be had at Sarco. You will see them listed in the shotgun news. The springs you will need to get from Wolfsprings.com I think that is their web address. I got 10 rebuild kits from Sarco a hundred years ago when they had the follower, butt plate and spring. Now all they have is the first two.
